After watching his games at Chelsea at that time, I thought he wasn't bad at all. This was just a bad match. It happens.

He lacked experience and confidence, you can see it in his movement, he's never sure he's doing the right thing and second guesses himself. He needed a manager that fully believes in him and play to his strengths, it was the right move for KDB to move on from Chelsea.

He wasn't ready yet in Premier League level, good decision to move into Wolfsburg for his development. Nice to see he is now one of the best midfielder ever in Premier League.

Kevin De Bruyne has come a long way from this game. he improved so much. his hard work and never give up payed off. now under a great coach like Pep. Pep turn him into 1 of the best attacking midfeilders of his generation. i am happy for him.

He seemed young and inexperienced. At top level they will be very critical of your mistakes. Glad he overcame this nightmare of his and became the footballer he is today. Definitely worked his butt off and he deserves every merit. Good stuff

The guy was so young and so inexperienced at such a high level. He was treated very harshly and Chelsea paid the price for selling such a talent!

Looking into only just this match, I could tell that KDB was just any kid who was under deep pressure both psychologically and physically anytime he made mistakes or lose the balls unnecessarily.
The system at the time was chase the ball all the time and sit back to counter attack opponents. That's a huge reason why he didn't succeed at Chelsea. One could tell how he was passing and was positioning and staying on the ball for some seconds, playing lofted passes, dribbling into spaces to deliver through passes and you could see that KDB was made for total or possessive and progressive football and Chelsea wasn't playing that.

Jose never gives young player a consistent chance because he just doesn't have the capacity to coach young talents

He was, even at the said time, a good player. Just that Morinho is not a patient coach. He needs instant resuls.

Well, the parting ways worked for both parties. Morinho a world class coach, De Brune a world class player.

Wish we kept him, he’s good. He was young at the time and lot of those passes the other players oblivious, look at lampard calling Willian to the ball that was played to him..

U can't judge him with this match, actually too many thing to consider before sell a player, u can't promise he will be he today if he stay with Chelsea, same goes to Salah, Lukaku, tactical is most important, neither can absorb or not by the player

The way he keeps looking for the ball says alot about him! He believes in his quality and for me he stills looks good even on his terrible day! The are those nippy passes he made makes that his teammates failed to read!

I recognize this performance from miles away whenever I see it: This is a performance of a player who knows how good he is, who feels to be treated unfairly and tries to show every skill he has with too much determination. This kind of hustling almost exclusively results with a cringe performance.

Yet, it’s a shame for Chelsea not recognizing this and not communicating with the player. At that time, Chelsea had dozens of youngsters whom they bought with a couple of million bucks (like Marin, thorgan, chalobah, Romeu, van ginkel, atsu etc.) and who could be sold at prices tripling what they paid even though they don’t perform. They thought de Bruyne was one of them. With proper career planing and communication, he would shine after one season of patience.
