*sigh* Back when I had a valuable coin collection and the family silverware, each time we moved, I would deliberately put them in a ratty, tatty old box that had been taped, re-taped, torn, mended, labeled and relabeled. It looked as if it was going to fall apart any second. In huge letters I scrawled "BATTERY PACK" on the side (to account for the weight). I left it in plain sight. When our house was burgled, they took the TV set, the radios, tape deck, guitar... but the silver and coins were left alone! Worked like a charm. Since then, though, I've had to sell both coins and the silver. But at least they were never stolen!

I have nothing of value... The real thieves have had it all already. that is the banks, council, government. and insurance companies. Any time I do get cash I spend it on call girls. drugs or beer. before one of the four big thieves call get it.

When my kids were little, I rarely got a treat such as candy due to their locust-like approach to consumption. I began wrapping my treats in freezer paper, writing 'broccoli' on the package, and sticking it in the freezer. Never lost s goodie.

If it takes a hand cart to move your safe you're probably ok with that one. So nothing in the freezer👍 under the mattress👍 in the closet 👍 in the dresser 👍 in a portable safe👍 in the master bedroom 👍 in an empty vase👍. I forgot a few, but you get the gist.

Having gone through a burglary let me tell you what they did Stole all the electronics in the lounge, office, kitchen, and master bedroom TV, computers, IPod etc. Opened and emptied on the floor all drawers in the study, kitchen, and master bedroom. Literally, a big pile on the floor so they could very quickly ascertain what was there. Pulled things in cupboards in master bedroom and office all over the floor. My closet was extremely tidy and organised with see through shoe boxes etc but they opened and emptied all non see through boxes in a pile on the floor. Took all my costume jewellery. Lifted .... Anything which could be used to prove ID - From passports to letters stating ID information (A year later, we had to spend two years proving that we weren't the people who had been buying TV's, laundry machines, computers and having them delivered to various addresses And we had put a note on our credit file that there had been a break in). Additionally, they had used some of the information including copies of pay slips and award certificates to set up a false life in another State.

Put your valuables in a Ziploc bag and put it in the dirty old shop vac you may have in the garage or basement.
