I'm not much of a cat guy, but a few years back a kitten showed up at the house. I gave it a warm place to sleep, food and water by the side of the house. Within a week it was in the back yard with the pits, and inside through the dog door within 2 weeks.
So we now have a cat that thinks it's a pit. She will even go on walks with us.

Mom told me that back when I was a young kid & we had a cat and dog, whenever Mom heard cats fighting & our cat was out, she'd let our dog out and the dog would chase off the other cat the escort our cat home, smelling him all over as if to check that our cat was OK!

I grew up with cats and dogs and we fished a LOT in Texas....so our cat ate like a GOD! Fresh fish
we had a puppy and a kitten togeher and THAT is the best way to do it if you want both =)

I used to have a pitbull/border collie cross named Lola. Such a sweetie. Bright home a kitten named Buffet and he totally bonded with her. They used to play a game i called "how much of my head can i stuff into your mouth?" I first saw them playing this one day as i watched buffet walk up to Lola and just headbutt her on the tip of her nose. She's opened her mouth and her just jammed his whole head inside. She closed her mouth, stood up and just walked away with this cat dangling from her jaws. Funniest thing i had ever seen. A few days later my gf was over and Lola walks into the room with the can limply hanging from her mouth and my gf freaked out thinking she had tried to eat him. She screamed at the dog to drop the cat, which Lola did, and the cat just landed on the floor with a soaking wet head and a confused look on his face wondering why the game had ended so soon. My GF was NOT happy that i had neglected to tell her about this first.

I had a dog named Willow she was a large girl one morning after a storm she took me to a almost dead new born kitten in the yard we took her in called her Mercy. I fed the formula with a dropper. Willie done the raising of Mercy she even potted outside. They slept together Willie protected her and threw the years as Willie grew old Mercy did the protecting as she saw it. And when Willow passed on we both grieved for her it was a very special friendship
