AMAZING 1930 Gated OTIS Traction Elevator @ Rush Rhees Library Rochester, NY

(8-18-2018) I FINALLY GET TO RIDE THIS BEAUTY!!! I’ve ALWAYS wanted to ride these for so long, but on Saturday 8-18-2018, it FINALLY happened!!!😀😀😀

This Gated OTIS Lift was installed in 1930 when the library was built, and still seems to be almost COMPLETELY ORIGINAL, with the exception of the electric powered gate!!! This was SOOOOOO FUN to take a ride on it felt like a roller coaster or a ride at an amusement park!!!😊😀😆Back then, Elevators were BUILT TO LAST, not like Elevators nowadays!!! These are 88 years old, and still run like NEW and it AMAZES me to think that they are just shy of being 90 years old and still running like new!!! And I hate to say, but I think that THIS lift stole the title for most EPIC lift I’ve ridden, and yes I mean the four manuals I’ve been on LOL.

The other elevator however got destroyed with Generic GAL fixtures, but it is still pretty fun to ride even though it got upgraded!!! It seems to have gotten modded for ADA compliance, but it is still AWESOME that they left the other car original like a REAL elevator!!! It's amazing how this is still original after so many years. Also, I think the electric gate is original. The COP isn't original though.
