This is not some weird TikTok trend. The sleep foundation has lots of information on mouth taping. It has been very beneficial for a lot of people including eliminating sleep apnea.

As someone who can barely breathe through the nose as is, I feel like I would suffocate within minutes. This gives me so much anxiety.

People dismiss this because it was made famous via tik tok. Truth is, breating through your mouth is really the danger at night as it leads to hypopnia and apnea, which reduce your blood oxygen levels which will eventually kill you. The idea is to leave a slit in the tape so you can get some air but still keep your mouth mostly closed. Hopefully, after a while, you won't need the tape because you will have trained yourself to keep your mouth closed.

This is what happens when people take other people's words seriously, insecurities people shouldn't even be worried about! You can't control whether you open or close your mouth while you're asleep. Honestly wouldn't do this and recommend doing this cos health is more important

I’ve been doing this for about two years. My asthma, which I have been hospitalized for 5 times, has gone away. Also had chronic sinus infections, which have also gone away. I’ve never been on TikTok, but read a book called Breath. It completely changed my life.

As a natural nose-breather myself, I find it _extremely_ difficult to fall asleep when I am congested. If I did this while I had a sinus infection or a cold, I would probably suffocate. How anyone could sleep _naturally_ by breathing through their mouth, and wake up with it completely dry, is beyond me.

My daughter’s pediatric dentist recommended that we train her to breathe through her nose by mouth taping. He said that this information was passed to him from the faculty of dentist school back in the day. Well, my daughter now breaths through her nose at night without the taping. My daughter sleeps better and her face has become more beautiful. After some research I found that mouth breathing can cause a lot of problems: crooked teeth, narrow and long face, narrow palate, short upper lip, less blood oxigenación, unattractive profile, bad breath due to dry mouth negative impact on the salivary glads and good bacteria, etc… I guess do everything prayerfully.

I never even knew this was a tiktok trend, but I started doing this a while back after being recommended by someone who was telling me the benefits of doing it.
It is a complete game changer, I wake up feeling much less groggy, my face is more relaxed, my breathing feels smoother plus it really really helps to improve anxious thoughts and restless feelings when you’re sleeping . Overall I feel far better in the mornings.
