Exploring Blockchain and Cybersecurity Solutions for the Internet of Energy - Accenture CSAF 2023

The Internet of Energy (IoE) refers to grid modernization and smart grid initiatives that serve to create a shared network between grid stakeholders, facilitating the bidirectional flow of energy, information, and payments. The purpose of IoE within generation, transmission, and distribution systems is to monitor and manage grid resources to optimize efficiencies, increase resiliency, and support sustainability goals. This presentation will explore key concepts and technologies that enable these transformations, with a focus on distributed energy resources (DER) integration and the cybersecurity risks that accompany these technologies. Specific use cases will be explored through a review of cryptographic techniques, their use within blockchain technology, and how this can be applied to the smart energy environment.
