Fun fact, I met him when i used to play for Santos FC here in Miami for it's youth academy. This was years ago when I was in middle school (2014 - 2015). He's a very humble guy and loves to joke around. He became a coach at one point and would give tips on how to counter and pressure better. Wish he stayed longer but later moved to either Michigan or Massachusetts i don't remember

That quote “it’s disrespectful.. they are professionals too..” than act like a pro and do not assault out of frustration. The coach should have discouraged? No! The refs should have enforced discipline and protect the athlete..

Beautiful football from Kerlon! 🔥⚽️

Intentionally injuring another athlete is pretty disgraceful, and doing that to a teen...

They couldn't compete so they decided to attack him to end his career. Nothing but respect for Kerlon Souza, a legend who never got the recognition that he deserved. ❤

They are forgetting that football is entertainment first. And skill dribble is one way to entertain.

I don’t even watch soccer or have much interest but Kerlon is now my favourite player. What innovation and incredible skill to pull that off. And all the fouls against him and suffering for it. Literal definition of genius in soccer. Creating what no one else could even see. Wow

This is one reason why brasilian are not dominant and fun to watch as it was before. Players cannot even express their creativity anymore and this is a clear example. They banned a skill that frankly almost every European team would know how to defend from after some time.

As a Cruzeiro fan, we all loved to see Kerlon playing, he was very talented, a young diamond and the "seal dribble" was just one of his amazing skills. Unfortunately, the injuries shortened his career and took him off the pitch. I'm still upset when I remember him, he could have been an iconic talent in football.

I feel like it shouldn't be banned for showboating, but because its overpowered and actually dangerous. If I put my foot up there to tackle, it's dangerous play, and if I use my head and we butt heads it's dangerous play. So you're intentionally keeping the ball somewhere (close to your head) that it's dangerous (for you) if I make a play at. You shouldn't be allowed to use the head to dribble. I say, 'while in motion you can take 3 consecutive touches on the head and/or shoulders max in the process of bringing it down and or changing direction, but more than that is an illegal dribble. If the next touch is on the thigh, it CANNOT be to raise the ball up to the shoulder level or above'

not gonna lie didnt knew story about this move, i see this from time to time in some leagues still, i doubt its banned, but if a person can dribble running half or even entire pitch with this move, its really op

"Oh no, he's talented, let's break his legs"

They should had stood in his way and force contact, I think like making him lose his balance should not count as foul if it is not kicking him in his legs, but just moving your shoulders to him.

I'm Brazilian but I didn't remember this player very well, or how he ended his career. I am heartbroken watching this video, and at the same time amazed by this young man's trajectory. I hope he receives all the honor he deserves and that his attackers are punished and that violence in football is punished with all severity.

Thats bullsh**!! Thats not an insult to anyone, its a technique. Pretty pathetic that the only counter they could think of was to foul him.

Justice for Kerlon

He was hated for inventing a prankster gangster gigachad dribbling move.

It’s just sad hearing his story. It’s pathetic what players did to him. Then others blaming him for it. You can disagree and call it disrespectful, but decking him in the face or trying to break his leg is just pathetic.

Saying that's disrespectful is like putting a limit on how many players you could dribble past. I remember Maradona being kicked out of the 1982 World Cup finals.
