Steve immediately roasting her taste in women after she came out just has major chaotic best friend energy. Iconic duo

The part where Steve is describing his crush and Robin immediately knew he was talking about her and the way she got frustrated and sad knowing that she'll break his heart is such an emotional scene 🥺

You can see Robin is struggling so hard. She knows she's going to break Steve's heart, but she has to tell him the truth because she really loves him and knows he deserves honesty. And Steve handles the situation sooo brilliantly. This scene is so touching, sad and relieving at the same time. Masterpiece.

I love how instead of Steve being like "WHAT, YOU'RE GAY?!?" he's just like "Oh Robin, we have to talk about your taste in women. Cuz you can do so much better."

Robin: *Coming out as a lesbian*
Steve: Cool
Robin: Theres no problems?
Steve: Yeah, your taste.

I love Steves character. Homophobia was so bad in the '80s and Steve just shrugs it off and has no problem.

Steve: *tries to confess his love*

Robin: well yes, but actually no

1:32 Maya Hawke’s performance is so good. You can tell she appreciates the fact that Steve likes her, but it hurts her too because she realizes she has to tell him she’s gay.

as a lesbian, i relate to Robin so much in this scene. i could just feel the pain in her chest, knowing that she can’t possibly feel the same way and wishing they could’ve just stayed best friends. i wish i had a friend like steve, because most of the times this happened to me, they didn’t take it nearly as well. especially since steve was born in the 60’s, it’s amazing how kind and accepting he is in comparison to people i know who were born in the 2000’s

Robin's face when she realizes that Steve turned on Best Friend mode is so pure and beautiful happiness

The way Steve reacts to her confession by making her laugh and being totally cool about it is the best thing ever. Character development y’all

They’re so cute together, I’m convinced they are soulmates just not romantic, rather platonic soulmates

That soft "Steve" after he says Tammy Thompson's a girl has me in shambles. She was so terrified of what he would say, that he would reject her and she'd lose her friend, ugh. Great acting.

“Tammy Thompson’s cute and all but she’s a total dud!”

Literally straight away into supportive best friend mode we stan Steve so much

I can practically taste Robin's relief when Steve starts teasing her for her taste in women. that was SO MUCH trust she gave him.

To me the best part isn’t even that she came out and he’s cool with it.
It’s that he poured his heart out to her, basically confessing his love, and then she revealed that not only does she not feel that way about him; she never will - never CAN, even - and he not only accepts it; he immediately starts joking with her like he didn’t just get his heart stomped on (again).

We need a Robin & Steve spin off that's just a workplace buddy comedy where they get fired at the end of every season and have to start a completely different job at the start of the next one.

Steve had the best character development of all time. From douchebag popular jock who only cared about himself to being a single mum who accepts people for who they are.
