YouTube Launches New Update... And It's Probably a Bad One🤨

YouTube just launched a new update that's similar to abbreviated sub counts and hiding dislike counts. Does that mean we really want it?

If youtube does this, it's going to cause creators to be more controversial to drive engagement instead of views, and that's not good for advertisement.

Maybe you can ask YouTube why it takes them 4 days to notify me that some of the channels I follow have posted a video!?
They should fix that first before messing around with other stuff

As someone who gets a disproportionally high amount of comments I could see it being a SLIGHT benefit towards those who are very explicitly trying to build a community, but I feel like it's not really worth it. Big downside is that I feel like this would really drive controversy, rage bait, and negative political content.

I wouldn’t mind an update where YouTube hides ALL statistics from the home feed/search, so small and big channels equally have a shot. A change like this is gonna tank small channels that aren’t oriented.

They deserve all the criticism in their feedbacks on this, it’s only gonna make the platform worse if they stick to it

I hate this update so much, it’s so confusing realizing your seeing likes instead of views.
Most of the time I have to open the video and close out just to check the views

I feel like the comments could be very missleading. and likes would make it feel like its just another social media post

To be honest, If they remove the view count on the preview page. But also don't replace it with likes or comments. Just have an empty space everybody would then have the same chance to get views which is a good thing. The date published needs to be there to indicate if the context of the video is still relevant. But apart from that it would be a good thing if they didn't show any of these 3. Of course, some could then click in on a video, realize the stats suck and leave. Therefore destroying the videos retention and therefore the video. But otherwise it would be a good thing which gives everybody the same odds to get a click. The only factor then would be title and thumbnail. Which it should be, because you can create a banger video but not get any views because the viewer sees 0 views, 0 likes and 0 comments

Like you mentioned: Nobody asked for this update. Wondering why YouTube does not rather focus on changes which would be very welcome and which are not yet implemented.

I use a tool to still see the dislikes. I hated this update so much!
And they should show nothing instead of comments, etc. They should rather fix real bugs instead of such nonsense...

Instead of comments, I would be interested in seeing nothing. Just title and thumbnail. Similar to streaming platforms like Netflix, hulu, etc.
