Actually Ratan Tata's intention was to provide an affordable car to a general lower middle class society with a ideal family of 4, but in India Car is something people use to judge financial status, and you can hide the price tag of your outfit but not of the car, eventually the affordable car became the cheapest car everyone was reluctant to buy, you wanna buy a car it must be something more than tata nano.

Indians never came to know and wont even know the value of Tata Nano project though it was low priced but it gave hope to many middle class people' to afford a 4 wheeler. Tata nano didn't fail ! We people failed to appreciate the value of the car and this we will know in future .

Ratan Sir once saw a family of 4... husband wife and two kids riding on a two wheeler, amongst heavy rain and on roads with potholes. The father was risking his and his families life, but at the same time he couldn't afford a car. Few metres ahead they met an accident and that's what made Ratan Sir upset. That's why he decided to launch the affordable Nano for the common middle class. It's a disgrace to see that it didn't work out. Honestly in my opinion if the design was a little better, the car would have been successful. Just sharing
