Attack on Manipur Additional SP || Manipur Violence || Eastern Paradigm

Imphal East district has plunged into chaos following a series of violent incidents within the last 24 hours.
The situation intensified when more than 200 armed miscreants launched an assault on the residence of Additional SP, Moirangthem Amit Singh. During the attack, they abducted Amit and one of his escorts. However, soon both were rescued from the area of Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai and are currently receiving medical treatment at Raj Medicity.

In response to the escalating violence, security forces have conducted extensive search operations in vulnerable areas of both hill and valley districts. These operations yielded significant results, with the recovery of various weapons including a 7.65mm pistol, an 8mm Bolt action rifle, a 9mm CMG with Mag, mortar shells, bombs, hand grenades, etc.

The assault on Amit's residence resulted in the vandalism of household properties. Additionally, two individuals, identified as Rabinash Moirangthem and Kangujam Bhimsen, sustained injuries during the altercation and were admitted to JNIMS Hospital.

In response to the unrest, stringent security measures have been implemented, including the installation of 140 checkpoints across Manipur. These measures aim to ensure the safety and free movement of essential vehicles along NH-37 and NH-02.

Furthermore, in a concerning occurrence, West Imphal Police Commandos have surrendered their arms in protest of the attack, demanding the freedom to retaliate with free-hands amidst the escalating violence.

The abduction of a high-ranking police official and the subsequent unrest indicate the fragile state of affairs in Manipur. Authorities have launched an investigation into the matter, while concerns persist about the potential for further violence in the region.
