This is the thirty-third of my series, Sadler's Honest Book Reviews - in which I examine and discuss a range of books focused on practical philosophy, leadership, personal development, or philosophy as a way of life. These reviews discuss style and structure, key ideas, some of the content, strengths, and any problematic aspects of the works, and include my recommendations for readers.

This review focuses on Julian Baggini's book The Great Guide: What David Hume Can Teach Us About Being Human And Living Well. (Princeton University Press, 2021)

Anyone who wants a book reviewed in this series can feel free to send me a copy - contact me directly to get the best address!

My videos are used by students, lifelong learners, other professors, and professionals to learn more about topics, texts, and thinkers in philosophy, religious studies, literature, social-political theory, critical thinking, and communications. These include college and university classes, British A-levels preparation, and Indian civil service (IAS) examination preparation

Definitely will check this one out. Baggini has been on my TBR for a while and I love the band analogy for the self you mentioned. It makes me wonder if the self (as a unified thing) is mostly just a useful convention.

As someone who knowsn nothing about Hume this sounds like a fascinating read. Another addition to my reading list! Thanks for recording another thorough book review.
