Can you elaborate why distance d2 is 1/3 of h? I tried solving for d2 using a right triangle just like you did, but I got (SQRT(3)/4)*a. Clearly I didn’t use the 60° of the equilateral triangle, so I see my mistake there; but I don’t understand why d2 is one third of h and not half. Hope that makes sense

I am feeling that this example does not make sense. I mean the masses (m), (2m) are connected to the disk or just happen to move near it? Also, the triangle “happen” to be in the disk? How is that possible?
