Apple Harvest From 33 Month Apple Tree Grown From Seed

How to Grow Apple Trees From Seed!
It's Harvest TIME on the Apple Tree that produced "fruit" this year! I plan on harvesting the remaining apples, cut them open and do a taste test - are they crab apples or just small apples from a young tree?
We gave it almost the full 200 days to maturity and now we'll harvest the small apples and find out if they taste like crab apples or just small immature green apples - wish me luck!

I started these Gala Apple Trees grown from seeds (out of store bought Gala Apples) on 1/1/2016 so they turned 32 months old (or 2 and a half years old) on September 1st, 2018!

In this video, I'll be showing you my 33 Month old fruiting apple tree!

As you know, it's rare to get a tree grown from seed to flower before 4 years, let alone set fruit! But we did manage to achieve that - now the question is whether or not they will become edible fruits or crab apples...
FYI - The tallest one is about 12 feet tall now with several branches!

I plan on keeping you all updated on their progress until they perish or produce!

Thanks for watching!

Last summer, I began growing apple seedlings because of this chanel, they are about 2-3 inches tall! Your videos were a great inspiration. Thanks rob.

Just discovered your videos. I have apple cuttings and needed guidance as I'm a newbie. Your enthusiasm is infectious. I was supposed to be working but got sucked into this series. I'll be back to watch the rest xox

That's YOUR apple! You have the only tree like it in the world! When you grow a tree from a seed, it's usually different. Dude, you have a new species of apple! What are you going to name it? :D

This channel is so valuable. The time taken to experiment with seeds is amazing. Im doing the same but this gives so much information that you cant find anywhere.

I would air layer the second trunk in the spring. That way you will have 2 fruiting young apple trees. I don't think you should cut the tree at this time of year because the tree is starting to store all of its energy. If you make a major cut now it will use some of that energy to heal the wound. It will heal quicker in the spring. Make the cut late winter to early spring.

So cool that the tree fruited so early and they're sweet....yes do grow the seeds!!

Aww, there so cute! I'm sure as the tree matures, the fruit will tend to be bigger. Probably wont get to the commercial size you find in stores anytime soon, but large enough to be worthwhile in harvesting.

I'm always happy for more content, so growing these seeds sounds interesting if you have the space and time.

No idea on the leader problem. My experience extends to two months of keeping kiwi seedlings. Most of them have got their third leaf! One is going nuts and is two inches tall with six leaves. They are just so cute!

Yay you finally uploaded!! My 3ft tall bell pepper plant kept dropping buds and hasn't grown a single pepper, but I tried pollinating it with Habanero pollen and the bud had stayed!! The dead flower fell off and it looks like its getting bigger so I'm happy to see what grows out

Omg, those are the cutest apples I've ever seen!!! Why dont they grow tiny apples, and sell them in supermarkets? I'm addicted!! But I live in a very hot and humid climate (the Florida Keys) so I grow key limes, pineapples, orchids, and succulent/cactuses. Thanks for showing this taste test! Awesome apple experiment my friend!

I'd like to see the seeds grow. I think the apples will be bigger next year and more fruit.

I love Crab Apples. A Granny Smith Crab Apple would be fantastic.

Hey Rob,
I think, that the apples are so small because the tree is still too young to bear appels and puts all of his energy in growth of the roots and in the tree itself! Mother nature takes care of itself ! If you want to get rid of one of the stams, choose The weaker one, and cut it in an angle from 45 degrees! As close to the mainstam as possible ! And it's up to you if you want to try to grow new trees from those seeds ! I think, that it should work! Thats nature! Always want to reproduce! Good Luck and thanks for the video!

Apples have so many different genes that go into the fruit that each tree grown from seed grows a different variety of apple. All the apples that are sold at the stores are genetically from the same mother tree, taken from cuttings of cuttings of the same tree. Seeds don’t grow the variety of apples that they come from, there are so many alleles that come to making the fruit that it’s a lottery of what kind of fruit you get, be it sweet or tangy, big or small, red or green, juicy or dry, or any variation there of.
