The music is Ukrainian, composed by Mykola Leontovych in 1914. In 1936, American composer Peter Wilhousky added English lyrics to the song and renamed it "Carol of the Bells." Perhaps we can keep those brave citizens in that country of it's origin in our thoughts as they battle not only the massive country attempting to suppress them, but the cold winter they are forced to endure by the destruction of their homeland. Beautiful version of this beautiful song by an incredibly talented band. Happy Holidays to all!!

Thanks for doing this one, Jynger! It's already Christmas at this side of the ocean and this is my favorite traditional Christmas song. I love this band and I love all the nonsense in this video. Ah, bit did you enjoy this bit of holiday fluff enough to want to listen to more Marillion, the greatest band, by far, among bands who hardly anybody has ever heard about. Many who do know the name still think that Derek Dick is still the lead singer. If you do check them out, stay with the post-1988 material, and always, always, always choose a live performance video. Let me be your guide:
