The Challenging Macau Approach! With a Real Airbus Pilot A32NX MSFS

We are taking a look at another stunning and challenging approach, this time the LOC Z RWY 16 in Macau! This features a large offset and wonderful views of the city as we head in to land. In this video we will see some tricks and tips for flying it in MSFS!

Thanks to Giuseppe from Twinfinite for the recommendation.

I am a real world Airbus pilot with thousands of hours flying the real aircraft and thought it would be fun to have a look at the new detailed simulation of the longest baby 'bus by Toliss as well as the new MSFS a320 NEO. Hopefully you find this useful and it brings another perspective to your simulation. Any thoughts or comments are welcome!

This video is intended for home entertainment only and does not reflect or represent any real world aircraft or airline procedures. It is for home flight simulator enthusiasts only and has no real world application. All views expressed are my own.

I'd like to say thank you for flying this aircraft I've worked on for soon the past year. There are a ton of people behind the scenes working incredibly hard to bring this plane to the highest level possible, and it is incredibly rewarding to see you make content about the features we spend so much time on, or simply flying it on stream.

There's an incredible amount of stuff coming to this airplane that will blow people away, and I say that even considering the recent developments. We're very determined to bring this up to a level most will not expect. We're aware there are a lot of rough edges but rest assured we spend a lot of time identifying those, and have extensive plans regarding everything there is wrong.

I don't know if you remember but a few months back in one of your stream I told you I was a 320 pilot from Cathay Dragon made redundant due to closure, I'd love to let you know that I got a job in the RHS with Cathay Pacific after interview, and I wanted to say a big thank you to you. Just by following through your streams really helped keeping my sense for flying intact during the time when I am stuck on the ground.

I have flown this exact approach during a diversion from Hong Kong during a typhoon, it was a very interesting one especially when the condition was unfavourable which made it especially rewarding.

Technically challenging. It really hits home how important it is to never let the airplane get ahead of you. Enjoyed seeing the nav and profile. Nicely done.

Just a flight simmer on the A320. Thanks for showing how it is done in 'real' life too. Good to hear that even real pilots need a second attempt! :)

Brilliant video. Your patience when the plane doesn't do what it's supposed to do is admirable!

More videos like this please, absolutely amazing. I feel much safer knowing there are pilots as professional as you flying us places!

Many people may not realize that Macau is well covered with 3D photogrammetry in Google Earth and thus Google Earth VR. It was actually founded/initiated by the owner of "The Las Vegas Sands Corporation" and today that town does more gambling revenue per year than Vegas.

Just for your information all the sounds in the Video are coming terribly from the left. I think it is almost double the loudness on the left than on the right.

Thank you so much for doing this. Amazing how different it is with a real pilot at the controls. You were using settings I didn't even know existed. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.

Nice vid. I'd love to see you do a vid on A32NX RNAV approach to NZQN coming in from both ends of the runway.

Happy simming.

Very nice video, well done. Also thanks for showing your first attempt, it lends you a lot of credibility that you don't try to hide when things go wrong. We can learn from mistakes/Microsoft being difficult, too! :)

Thanks for this video! I've followed along a few times and am absolutely loving this approach thanks to your walkthrough. Just nailed the glideslope after a 2.5 hr flight from Bangkok. Might be time to purchase a Navigraph subscription, it's way more fun following a chart!

There is a really nice addon for VMMC, I love flying between it and VHHX in the CRJ like I'm transporting some rich VIPs haha

Thanks for doing this video btw! Learned a lot :D

This approach looks really great! Thanks for the video! I recently flew the DC6 into EKVG, it has some very interesting and challenging approaches as well (though I screwed up as I got scared by a sudden appearing cliff, flying blind into a narrow fjord with the DC6 is interesting…)

It's always a pleasure to see my hometown and the airport got featured in videos. This small city on the Pearl River Delta really deserves more attention for its rich cultural history and beautiful landscapes. Though I wonder which scenery were used (I personally use the SamScene3D's Macau Airport scenery, with the city included). The Pearl River Delta does have some interesting airports and approaches, i.e. the Kai Tak IGS 13 approach, and this offset LOC approach. These two are my favourites.

The issue raised at 10:13 is because of that the airport is located within the boundaries of the Guangzhou FIR so the altitudes on the chart are given in meters (following the CAAC standard), however the airport itself follows ICAO standards so barometric references are in QNH, initial climb altitudes given in feet, uses English solely for ATC purpose, etc (at least this is the case as far as I am aware).

Anyway this is another brilliant video, as per usual standards for the channel. Personally I really enjoyed it.
