Israel said it has begun its widely expected ground offensive against Hezbollah in Lebanon, following a build-up of tanks along the border. The army said the targets of Operation Northern Arrows — a number of villages in southern Lebanon — pose an immediate threat to residential communities in northern Israel. The military has also carried out more airstrikes, with blasts heard across the Lebanese capital Beirut very early on Tuesday. In an interview with DW, former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert called for a cease-fire in Gaza, and expressed doubt over the ultimate aims of Israel's military operations and ground invasion in Lebanon.

Ehud Olmert went to jail for taking bribes and obstructing justice. Maybe you should interview someone else.

Ahud Olmar is a Highly intelligent, man, and leader…every word that he spoke is of upmost importance. He Knows what he’s talking about! He should be listened to

He bungled it the last time because he was a bad commander in chief. Sorry to say. But we have others at the helm now. Olmert also tried to assassinate Nasrallah back in 2006 and failed, like he failed to prosecute that war back then.

The PM is still thinking back 2006 as if we're stuck in 2006. He should cooperate and give courage to the fighters for the current situation.

That's what you all said concerning Israel's incursion into rafah.
You think Israel isn't aware of Hezbollah's gimmicks?

The guy who bungled and lost Israel's last war with Hezbollah, primarily by delaying and minimizing the use of ground forces now has ideas about how to wage this one. The lack of self awareness is amazing.

So, Ehud believes in giving Hezbollah a haven to regain strength. Not a great plan.

Very sad. Olmert does not understand the concept of deterrence - peace through strength

Why waste our time talking to this failed politician pitching him against the most successful PM who is doing the job this guy couldn’t do?

Maybe not as the IDF and associated Israeli forces now have better weapons and fighting technique.

Mr. Olmert misspoke at 10:08. He was referring to Mugniyeh, not Israel.

If this guy was still in power today - Nasrallah would be alive and well.
