This is lesson 1 on differential equations. In this lesson i will talk about the definition of differential equations and how to classify differential equations into ordinary differential equations and partial differential equations.
A differential equation is any equation which contains derivatives either ordinary or partial of an unknown function and one of its derivatives.
example of a differential equation is dy/dx=3x+3y
A differential equation is said to be an ordinary differential equation if it contains ordinary derivatives and the one independent variable.
A partial differential equation is defined us a differential equation which contains partial derivative and has two or more dependent variables.
