As a U.S. Marine, I was in WPNS Co. 81's platoon 2nd Batt. 7th Marines out of Camp Pendleton, CA. I'd sure like to see em' clear a hang fire in a 120 mortar as we did with the 81's.

In the Marines, I worked on a four deuce (4.2 inch) about 106 mm one time Vieques Puerto Rico. Our battery (105's) were chosen to test them for possible reintroduction.

We practiced on them for a few days. Tube was chest high. When you do it just right as a team in a battery, all working together, you can put 64 in the air before the first one hits the ground. We did it with willy pete twice, and it was awesome until you thought about being on the receiving end of such a thing. I was the tube man one of the times. Party with Arty, fire for effect...

Mortier de 120 mm à tube rayé, excellente arme. Souvenirs 🤣🤣🤣 il avait beaucoup plut le terrain était très boueux. Mon capitaine se place derrière la première pièce. J'engage l'obus, le laisse tomber BOUM la plaque de base s'écrase violemment au sol en projetant une gerbe de boue. Mon capitaine est entièrement recouvert. Quelle rigolade 🤣🤣🤣

I was a mortar crewman back in my US Army days. Shot the M-30, 107mm mortar. Had a rifled cannon. This 120mm mortar is a smooth bore cannon. Charges were very different than this mortar. Measured by 1/8th increments, up to 42 charges.

This 120mm mortar has a range between 7 and 10 km...and allows rocket propelled rounds that extends the range to [classified] km!
