With the new VDB new object feature now present in blender and with the realtime volume simulation tool (embergen) available, it's interesting to take a look at how you can blend these tools together and get some interesting looking results.

VDBs are great for volumetric clouds -- cumulus, cumulo-nimbus, large-scale like volcanic ash plumes. I believe used by Bifröst and Houdini for a while now.

Excellent tutorial. I would like to know how could we use Blender 2.83 to import a still image of a Soccer player with a ball and use the camera movements to animate the player and the ball not just a fire.

I can't render vdb's in cycles. Blender immediately quits when I click render animation. Is this happening to you too? Eevee is able to render but it doesn't look very convincing.

My VDB effect disappears as soon as I put it in either the viewport shading or render view. No matter what I do I cant get it to show up

Hey NK, any solve for the issue of using these VDB files in Cycles vs. Eevee? They render fine (though unremarkably) in Eevee, but if I try to use them in Cycles it gives me black cubes regardless of tweaking settings and volume parameters. Anyone else having this issue?

Why am I getting super pixelated ugly vokumetrics ALWAYS?!?

Doesn’t matter if I download a vdb or I make it myself carefully, the smoke and fire will always look blocky and weird and will lines and squares in it!!

Please help I’m sure I’m not the only one experiencing this and it’s crazy that there’s not a single video on the internet about it.
