On Today's Episode of TIER THIS, MoneyShift takes on vehicles under $30,000.

There are a lot of great cars out there, and with cars getting more expensive, understanding which ones you should stay away from are more important than ever. Some of these cars might surprised you, and if you have another option that is not listed here, let me know what it is!

What tier list would you like to see next?

I have a manual Mazda3 hatch. I cannot express how much I love this car. I personally think it is the best looking car ever (based on my preferences). PLUS its also a LOT of fun and smooth transmission, BEAUTIFUL red leather interior, great features / gadgets (the HUD is VERY useful with the manual, I barely ever look at the gauge cluster except to see what RPM or MPG I'm at 😅).

But seriously it's a beautiful car. I am beyond happy with my purchase and would buy it again if given the chance. I just know I'll look back on this car when I'm older and will appreciate how beautiful and wonderful of a car it was.

This is a criminally underrated video. I have an 18’ Hyundai Elantra with 24k miles! But, I want an AWD vehicle so I came here.

While I agree the Outback’s CVT is lack luster, it’s quite reliable and has hands down the best AWD system not only on this list but in the market. No one comes close. It’s 8.7 ground clearance is #1 in the segment and has the biggest cargo space. The fact you have a MINI and the Bronco Sport above any Subaru is ridiculous 😂.

I stupidly leased the maverick but at a good price of 399.50. Definitely going to buy it at lease end price of 20.5k but wish I bought it instead up front. Great truck. I have a xlt Ecoboost with Lux package and AWD. Tonneau cover as well. I get around 30 mpg on mostly highway driving. 27 around city.

I went to a Toyota dealer looking for a Prius, should be around 29k. Came out with a Corolla because they wanted 42k for a Prius lol.

Why would you lease a wrx for 300 a month when it only depreciates like 20% in two years? That means it only depreciates 250 a month. So why lease it for 300-350 when you can buy it and sell it after 2-4 years and save 100 a month.

You could’ve showed the picture of the car bigger for a bit so we can see it

great vid. I have an 08 civic. Been thinking about getting the new Prius for months but your reaction to it just made me make up my mind. I'm going to get it, it's a banger indeed!

Surprised the Subaru Crosstrek (which is a definitive "buy now") didn't make it to the list of vehicles. I used to drive it in and around Boston for a couple years and it saved my life on more than one occasion due to poor road conditions and black ice some years, can't give that sleeper of a car enough kudos.

Would you say a Subaru legacy is also a why? I’m not too familiar with subaru but I like the legacy premium a lot.

I have an outback 2.5 limited. The key with that transmission is to not punch it. You want to keep rpm around 2k-2500 to accelerate at a good rate. Also side note, it is one of the most comfortable highway cruisers under 30k.

sadly the cx5 is over 30k now and the mazda3 is so hard to find in the south

I was looking at the new sport 2024 Impreza as a secondary family car. It didn’t make your list and I was also looking at a Maverick but can’t get any dealers to work with me. I’ll have to check out the civic.
