Absolutely fantastic year for music. I had nearly the entire countdown in my record collection. Sade’s Diamond Life & Tears For Fears Songs From The Big Chair are classic albums I still listen to today.

Madonna ruling another year... I soooo love her. Since 1984, she has always been on Billboard Year-end Hot 100 100 singles. Crazy for you is still hunting me. In general I love all the songs for this year especially Take on Me by A-Ha. Wheather you like it or not, we live in a Material Worl. Period. The lyrics of that song reminds me of this saying " Money, not love makes the world go round"

1985 is another great year for pop music, even though you start to see some of the weaker trends that would grow bigger moving into the later year's in the decade starting to see their seeds get planted this year (even though I still think 1986 and 1987 are pretty decent), but it was still a great year just like the previous year's.

Got oh so many memories from this year and those hit songs.
Am of the same age as George M., who sings at the end of the video 'tonight the music seems so loud, I wish that we could lose this crowd...'

A thousand thanx for posting this and keep up a good job in order NOT to let the beautiful music die.

This is a very good eries that uses the U.S. Billboard Top 100 songs of the year. It's not just someone's idea of the top songs. It uses the actual clips when possible. Oh, and the music is great too.

It's wild that #29 is Lovergirl and #28 is Loverboy even though the songs aren't related at all.

Born in the USA was released Nov84 and peaked at nbr 9 Jan85, ended up at 92 year end chart.
Would have had a much better performance if the release date would have been in May or June, closer to the 4th of July.
There are winter songs and summer songs, managers don't seem to internalize this for better results in the products.
