just couple things
dont ignore ACES because thats badass and optimized, its industry standard in movies. just never use 1.0...leave it around 0, 3 - 0, 5 between, it does the job
(you can try LOT too. ground control grudge works fine with archviz, but never use 1.0 either)

dont desaturate the final image! lower the white balance to 6000 or 5500 at minimum

be very careful with highlight compression, and try to play with the lights settings, because however it can help in the burnt out areas, but it also fucks up lots of other things (contrast, colors...) leave it at 1.0, and play with the lights, and textures instead to avoid pure white areas
(or, just try sometimes 0, 6 or 0, 8 if you want to "contrast up" the image without using more contrast....of course it doesnt work most of the time, but its a good thing to know)

why dont you use the sun?
