I’m 20 and I watched this man when I was like 5 even though at the time I didn’t even know what he was talking about he would always make me laugh. When I was 10 and my dad passed it was the hardest thing I ever went through to this date but, after awhile I put lee Evans stand up on and it always cheered me up no matter how many times I’d watch his shows I would always cry if laughter.

He helped me so much and played a big role in my life and he doesn’t even know me. I never got to see him live until I went to a show in London and he (among other British talent) was in the show! Problem was it was a very sad play but for those minutes I saw him it made me really smile. I’ve always wanted to see him perform his stand up or even talk to him for just 5 minutes, just to say thank you.

I doubt anyone cares but I just want people to know how important this man truly is.

The golden rule here is: Don't work so hard you forget the things that really matter, family and your mental health!

What a guy. He's absolutely hilarious, and there's nobody else out there that does comedy like him.

So sad. Love him so much. But he has the best reason, no one can blame or judge. Fair play Lee.

You can hear the shock in the crowd. It's probably been a hard decision for him but I'm sure he's been very happy with his family since.

Lee Evans is the first stand up comedian I remember seeing as a kid, he's still my favourite!

A wise, a very wise man to end one chapter and spend precious time with his family...a man who knows the true value of time.

If you have the means to retire at an early age, no matter what profession your it and spend the rest of your life with your family. That is the number one regret of those lying on their death bed will tell you.

Lee is such a sweet human being, kind, very talented but extremely shy until he comes on stage. Such a lovely man, and he will be missed, as his tours were wonderful. Maybe he will return in a few years time.

Seen him perform live 3 times over the years, first time in the early 90s at the Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham, what a genuine down to earth guy and absolutely hilarious as well

I remember going to see some comedy above a pub in London. There were maybe only 40 people there and Lee Evans came on. He was just starting out. I used to go and see all the comedy back then as there were some brilliant comedians. But I have never seen anything like that. I nearly died laughing. He played Bohemian Rhapsody and mimed the actions, not words of the song and it just killed. I knew then he would be a superstar. Strange to have seen him at the beginning and now he has retired. Bloody hell I feel old.
