NASA Wants to Build A Telescope On The Moon (LCRT)

Having just successfully launched the James Webb Radiotelescope (JWST).... theres never been a better time to dream big. A few years ago NASA proposed a new kind of telescope... one built on the far side of the moon. This 1km-wide lunar crater radio telescope (LCRT) is a very real project that is currently undergoing further development with over $500,000 in funding from NASA. If built, it would allow us to peer into the Cosmic Dark Ages, revealing how the first galaxies formed. But... how would we build such a telescope and what challenges are we likely to face?

Maybe establish a lunar base on the earth side and connect it with the telescope by a road so that the astronauts can head back if a solar flare was to occur

It would be amazing if we could ever actually construct such a telescope. I am currently more optimistic about the potential for space interferometry, using a swarm of smaller space telescopes widely spread out to act as one telescope. It would be similar in concept to the Event Horizon Project, except on a much larger scale. And it would potentially create the largest effective resolution power of which we could ever be capable.

Starship's cost of launch into low earth orbit to cost $2million, but for how much mass??
