DrayTek Vigor130 Modem Router

The Vigor130 is one of the more popular as well as one of the cheaper routers DrayTek has on offer, and the reason for their popularity is not hard to understand. There’s two groups of people the little Vigor130 is ideally suited to. The first is someone with no need of a network who just needs a basic ADSL or VDSL modem to plug their PC into, with some bonus security features to get them online quickly and safely. The second group needs a basic modem with no security features to plug into a more advanced router or hardware firewall. The Vigor130 can be configured to work either way.

I accidentally bought a router without a modem.. the store didn't pick it up to return it, so i'm now looking into modems. In the UK there are next to no options in popular stores as almost everything is a router modem combination. This device is popular online, but isn't cheap and seems a bit large for what it does (I have limited space) and has to also be powered seperately. I also wonder how performance may be affected with a router and modem that don't work efficiently together. I can only find it second hand too but I tend not to trust ebay and amazon for technology unless it's new and can be returned. Some users say to connect a very cheap, old modem to a new router of choice, but I'd wonder if security would be lowered as a result

Can I set up the draytek vigor 130 without connecting to the Internet, say talk talk settings first before connecting to the Internet.

It's not a Router, just a modem...
ADSL & VDSL (FTTC/BT Infinity) Ethernet Modem
Even On Amazon it states, The DrayTek Vigor 130 is an ADSL and VDSL modem with an Ethernet connection; it is not a router but a true ADSL/VDSL Ethernet Modem
Anyways,
I have a BT Hub setup purely as a modem (Fiber connected), it is then connected to the TP-Link AC5400 MU-MIMO Tri-Band Gaming Router (which is amazing), I want to get away from the ISP Standard modem/router purely because they can update and restrict options, been looking at the DrayTek Vigor 130 for some time


Right I'm off to get a better review of this apparent Modem/Router :)
