I think one of the reasons it failed Is because everyone compared it to pokemon and never got to stand on its own so the expectations were set too high

Yokai Watch does have the potential. I just wish more people were willing to give it a try when it came over to the West. Much like you I also fell in love with the franchise when I discovered the anime.

I love yo-kai watch so much! Level 5 is coming back in the US, and after seeing all the games they announced in yesterdays direct, I have a little bit of hope that yo-kai watch 4 will be localized

Gosh, I adore the Yo Kai watch franchise. Yo kai watch and Yo kai watch 2 fleshy souls were the only games I had on my 3DS XL growing up. Clocked hundreds of hours on each. Still have both of those save files, all the memories...

It's really nice that there are content creators making videos about Yo-Kai Watch! Hopefully videos like this convince the western audience to give Yo-Kai Watch a chance!

I love Yo Kai watch, I’ve loved it since I first seen the trailer for the first game. The second game was the first game in a while where it took me MULTIPLE DAYS to beat the final main story boss, which I can’t say about other monster catching games (side eyeing literally every pokemon game since x/y) and it makes me so sad when, even nowadays, some people write it off as another pokemon clone. It had some of the best story writing that kept me invested through the whole game, and the endings of both Yo Kai Watch 1 and 2 literally made me tear up. I’m really glad that Level 5 as a company is making a return in the west with the new professor Layton game, and I’m really keeping my hopes at a reasonable level that they’ll localise YKW4 and the YKW1 remake in the future, preferably before the heat death of the universe.

i got into it cuz of the anime too. from then on i’ve collected all the localised games, yes ALL of them, including every version.

this franchise is WAY too underrated, man. we need to bring it BACK

I loved the first Yo-Kai Watch, it was a pretty great game considering around the same time I was really fascinated with monsters from around the world.

It’s a shame that the franchise never really found a large audience in the west.

Fun fact: Yo kai watch 3 has so much content that it's one of, if not THE biggest game on the 3DS, and at the same time it's one of the rarest to find in physical, since it was a limited production.

I recall seeing the English dub of the anime on Disney XD, but it sadly ended too soon, and the games after the first two games never got any releases in America. Yo Kai Watch just sorta came and went.

This might be the first time I saw someone get into the series via the anime. I watched an episode on Disney XD, and absolutely loved it. I didn’t have a 3DS at the time. But I bought one specifically for Yo Kai Watch. And I have so much nostalgia for it.

I love the series, have all the game, and even imported the games from Japan (I know you can buy them digitally. But I wanted the box). And deeply wish the series might come back with the return of Level-5 to the west
