Honestly putting school pips on lore spells was a mistake from the very beginning. They should just remove the school pip entirely but keep the damage the same, like how lore spells used to be.
They still haven't fixed the bug that has existed since NOVUS got added, which is that so many mobs and bosses that normally could cast lore spells, can't now because they can't gain school pips. This has made stuff like deckathalon way easier because most high level mobs gained almost all their damage from lore spells, which they can't even cast now. This just results in stuff like storm mobs spamming supercharge and never actually hitting.

Not EVERYTHING needs to have upgrade paths, weaving, etc. Sometimes just having raw DAMAGE is good enough

This is because they balance based on a formula and not a case by case basis like basically every other game ever😭

I cant much longer with these devs. 8:44 this right here. The PvE game is already ATROCIOUSLY balanced. For example(before enchants), myth and fire are supposed to be hitters but their HIGHEST DAMAGE AOE DOES 750-850ISH DAMAGE on avg. Storms highest hitting aoe does like 1300+. Keep in mind the shadow spell damage per pip is 115 for myth, 120 for fire, and 130 for storm. But storm does nearly 2x the damage as the 2nd and 3rd place hitters?? But sure lets nerf ninja pigs and winters moon because 1% of the community is annoyed in pvp.

scales is the only one of these that needs tweaking, and solely because it's a triple hit. they just need to tweak that and it'll be more balanced, no need to throw the worst school into the crossfire [again]

Something I find very strange is that Path (a) hydra is pvp banned, yet path (a) scales isn't even though you can only weakness against an incoming scales vs using a elemental shield againts a hydra. Add on that scales does near the same damage as hydra which costs 6 pips over scale's "5", and is it any wonder its the most spammed spell for balance.

As a PvE focused player I agree with you in that they should only change scales spell or just change it in PvP. I hope PvE does not get negatively affected by the PvP community.

Ironically all this does it makes the current issues even worse. If they really want to rework something then why not rework Grendel's Amends or Celestial intervention. They're in DESPERATE need of reworks

It seems like Wizard101 doesn't care about their community, but that's the industry standard. COD is a perfect example of this as well.

I honestly don’t think scales is that bad. Balance needs something because of their trash spellements paths.
They can’t really remove or convert anything, it’s all echos.
And they also can’t buff basically at all. Also has the hardest gambits to set up, none of their other spells set it up nicely so no one runs them.
They already got rid of mana burn and supernova, if you get rid of scales now balance is gonna be easy pickings

A bit late to the party, but I want to add a few things. Firstly, I really hate it when the Devs decide they need to solve an issue that didnt need to exist in the first place. Leave the non-issue spells alone and focus on spells that are causing issues, not by nerfing them into the ground, but making the counters for that spell stronger/more accessible. Which brings me to Scales. The biggest complaint I hear about it, is how its hard to shield against to reduce the damage output. I propose that they chance the damage types and the required school pips and insead map them to either the sun, moon or star trios. That way theres a triple shield that can be used against the spell (since they already exist), and it can expand the lore around balance being the melting pot of all magic schools to include the astral schools. They could even expand upon this with spellements and make different paths with different damage types and required school pips.

One problem with spells like winter moon is that it makes Path A colossus essentially useless. It’s my understanding they want all spells to be somewhat useful and not directly outclass another spell. With winter moon in the game, path A colossus is useless. Any burst hit with a school pip will automatically be an upgrade to a burst hit without a school pip. They are going the route on school pips, similar to shadow spells, to put more of the value in utility than damage.

Damn.. I mainly played myth all the time for YEARS.

Was thinking recently (a few minutes ago) of coming back and buying zones and trying things out; but seeing that they intend on nerfing my main school (with my 2nd main school being Ice too LOL); Yeah they just gave me a reason to keep playing other games instead of this one.
