The fact that some people wish to inflict the suffering they endured on others says something. Because as someone who has endured my fair share, I could never imagine feeling okay knowing I’ve put that on someone else.

Bullies do that. They think they are better then certain people. They look for weaker people. The bullies probably learned from there parents. There parents were bullied and now they transferred to themselves. They are now become bullies.

Very interesting and comforting to hear. Funny story, a woman at the grocery store, we were both looking at eggs. I get it if you open them up to see if they're all in tact and maybe open a few to pick the best carton of eggs. However, this woman took it to a whole new level. She opened up a box, started examining each egg and then removed all the small eggs from her chosen carton, and replaced them with bigger eggs from other cartons (it's normal for eggs to be slightly varied in size in the same carton, and apparently that bothered her). So now someone else will buy a carton with a higher than average amount of tiny eggs because she stole all the big ones.Hard to explain, but anyhow I was staring at her like, really? there was hostility there, for sure.

I was harassed today at work. It’s happened before. I was called “sexy” by a woman as I was changing my shirt (I had a tank top on) then today as I was going to work my manager asked how my back was (I hurt my sciatica) and my co worker literally says, “oh I know what you were really doing you were in all different positions” (referring to sex) and the manager just laughed. I left work 2 min after I just couldn’t deal with the harassment anymore. Idk if I’m entitled or what 🤷‍♀️ The reason why this triggers me is because my extended family members would joke around like this and the last thing I want to do is work with family.

I'm always mind-blown by your natural ability to deconstruct our emotional machinery so precisely.
If Carl Jung were alive, you would be his most cherished disciple. <3

True, but we are also in a world of enablers. If everyone just spoke up and told the other person that their behavior was unacceptable we would all be in a better place. In the absence of people who haven't been parented properly the society, all of us, needs to be the parent.

"my false self is more important that what i perceive to be your lack of self". For me is ground breaking, hearing that hit like a bolt of lightning and i've been moved by the thunder of that expression, observation and quote from Daniel. That has resonated and made so much sense with me and to me it's grabbed me by the core. That has clarified so much of a confusion of navigating grandiose self important people. Thank you so much Daniel Mc. God love you. Peace my friend 🕊️

I remember seeing a middle aged woman ripping a cashew nut bag open inside the supermarket, eating a few and leaving it there. Didn't really _need_ to eat, didn't pay, left it there to get spoiled, pretty much wasted a perfectly good bag of food someone could have eaten, while giving debt for the market and giving the staff unnecessary work. It is even somewhat unhygienic, leaving food exposed. If she had stolen it I'd have been less annoyed.

I don't really care what triggered my mother's sense of entitlement. She was such a bitch towards me that it disqualified her from any understanding or sympathy. She has been dead many years now, but if I had the power to resurrect I would bring back my beloved dog before my mother any day. Are these people too stupid to realise their actions have consequences? And that they destroy their own lives?

Thank you so much for this. I am also now thinking of ways in which I've acted entitled too. Oh, this being human thing...

he is also describing our country, and the way we treat other countries, if we invested the money we spent on bombs to bomb them instead to help them the world would be a safer better place for everyone, we are a narcissistic country and we have the perfect representative leading us. lol

Daniel, thanks for your insight into these broken people. It helps me to have compassion on them. Unfortunately, their hostile demands, disrespect and boundary stomping, causes hostility in return. Do you have any "scripts" that would help in these situations? I would love to say (in a gentle, voice), "I'm sorry you weren't loved by your parents." Then give them what they need without anger. Of course that would probably cause them to go balistic but maybe they'd reflect upon it later and consider what to do about it. Again, that's in a perfect world. As a past therapist, what do you think they need to hear? How do we get past their defense mechanism to give them the love they are so desperately seeking?

Mackler, you are good. This phenomenon is described so well in this video.

yeah, the root of entitlement is having your own offspring and not caring and loving it. Look at the animal world, they look after their young, yet humans abandon their young

A big blind spot here, is that there are some religions and cultures that actually do view themselves as "better" than the rest of us.
