Why is it called the Norcom Straight?

Fuji digs into the Strava segment that gave the Norcom Straight time trial bike its name.

I saw a video in which a standard road bike had really nice wheels on it, and someone commented "Why would you put such nice and expensive wheels on a Fuji? A FUJI?!?!?!?!" So I got to thinking, Fupu must have a really nice bike that is worthy of putting on such wheels, so I started specifically looking for Fuji bikes at my local bike shops here in Tokyo. None of them had any Fuji bikes that caught my eye.
Until I went to Y's Road bike shop in Jimbocho, which is an area where there are many sporting shops. In there I saw a black and red Fuji Norcom Straight. I gotta say that it is a really sexy bike. I know the Italians get all the accolades for sexy bike frames, but IMHO, the Norcom it hot as hell, particularly where the seat stays meet the seat tube. No other bike company has made that as beautiful.
EVER!
1 Important thing for me is function over form because it is a race bike, not a beauty contest. Pinarello over does that IMO. Fuji hit it over the fence, out of the stadium and into the water for some clown in a Kayak to fish for it with the Norcom.

I thought that Fuji were a Japanese company, and apparently they were, until the nineties. Now they are a Taiwanese company and and this independent North American company based out of Pennsylvania.
