On November 18, 2013, Genentech founder Herb Boyer, co-inventor of recombinant DNA technology Stan Cohen, QB3's Regis Kelly, UCSF's Keith Yamamoto, and Stanford's Niels Reimers and Kathy Ku discussed the evolution of university-industry relations over the past 35 years. David Ewing Duncan served as moderator. Topics included the groundbreaking Cohen-Boyer patents, the enactment of the Bayh-Dole Act, cultural shifts in academia, and the current conditions for interdisciplinary science, technology transfer, and biomedical progress.
