Unit 0, Practice Test, #10
GED students often complain that they study and study basic math and "nothing they studied was on the test". Here's a great example of a problem where a TON of "basic" math concepts apply.
Finding a value for a variable that makes a fraction undefined relates to a ton of concepts we covered in Unit 0: that we can't divide by zero, that x's are just mystery numbers we can trade out for a given number, that "undefined" means an expression doesn't simplify to a real number, and that numbers have "opposites", or additive inverses that cancel out. Whew! That's a whole lot of basics all wrapped up in one tricky little GED style example!
