I meditate an hour every day. No bullshit about a year ago I was suffering from anxiety depression and military ptsd. I told my self that I would get into meditation and at first I couldn’t even do 5 minutes. Eventually I worked up to 20 then 30 then 40 minutes. It is the most amazing feelings. I just broke the 2 hour mark a few weeks ago. I can tell you that I am healed today and I can talk to people again and actively listen to people while holding a conversation!

I did 40 days of 40 minutes of zen meditation every morning at 5 am and my anxiety completely disappeared for a couple years. I got lazy with my practice and I’ve noticed agitation slowly creeping back in.

Steps toward transcendental meditation (save yourself the $1, 000)
0. Avoid taking caffeine before or being in a state of hunger/ thirst
1. Get comfortable (sit or lie down comfortably). Relax and breath deeply
2. Try to avoid being in a stressful mindset, as much as possible
4. Repeat a "mantra": that's a non word that you've made up that you feel comfortable repeating. Too-la is an example. Say it repeatedly in you mind, not out loud. Two or three syllables that can be said easily.
5. Do this (repeat your own mantra) as long as you can (between 30 mins and 2 hours, initially aim for 15-20 mins)
6. As random thoughts enter your mind, let them go and concentrate on saying your mantra to yourself.
7. After a while you'll be able to do this without thoughts coming in Consider working towards two 30 min sessions or longer, twice a day.
8. You may not feel the benefits on day one. But over time you'll find improvement in your calmness, strength, and focus, etc.

The secret to meditation is persistence, you will have days where your mind is completely free from thought and completely immersed within a void of pure awareness where you don't even feel your body and other days you will have constant thoughts about everything and anything.

Some days you won't go as deep, the secret is finding a place that is somewhat serene with not much noise where you feel most at peace, once you do that you focus on your breath if you do Vipassana, mantra for TM, and allow yourself to have thoughts; it's not about forcing awareness or forcing calamity but merely just allowing whatever situation to arise.

Eventually everything in your environment will fade away and you will feel like a floating head in space. You don't even need a Buddhist or Hindu Mantra, you can sing whatever song relaxes you. Consistency is key, a quiet environment; and an acceptance for what may come. Don't worry about certain hand gestures or mantras, focus on breath or point of focus, check your posture, and allow yourself to make mistakes in your meditation.

I'm part Buddhist, charging for TM is like charging people $2, 000 to learn how to pray to God. It makes me angry because only people with money are spiritual, positivel and humbled because they pray yet poor aren't because they can't pay!!!
Heres a tip, Just go to any any temple, they have monks that speak English and they still guide you for free. Im in Los Angeles, their is a thai temple in North Hollywood. They like to teach and spread these positive effects of mediation. You can donate or not. All is welcome.

Everyone who hasn’t meditated please try and do it. It’s life changing. Hard to do it for long when you start but once you keep it up.. it’s unreal. I’ve gotten naturally high as hell during some of these sessions. Crazy how people don’t do this or call it just hippy dippy. There is a lot to this practice . Exercise is phenomenal but y’all have to atleast try meditating

Meditation goes beyond thought that's why it's so good for us, takes us to who we really are xx

As a TM practitioner for almost 10 years, this is the most accurate description i've heard, and how usually i describe it. When I’m transcending during Transcendental Meditation (which doesn’t happen every time), I feel this unexplainable yet deeply pleasant sensation throughout my whole system. It’s hard to put into words, but it’s as though my entire being is at ease. When I finish, it’s like I’ve charged myself up from 10% to 100% instantly. The feeling of being recharged and refreshed is immediate, and I feel completely revitalised.

10 minute cold shower followed by 20 minutes of TM. Best I've ever felt...

Try it. I started in 75. I've done most meditations over the years and TM is still the best. And I haven't been into the TM movement since 1980.

I’m practicing the Sidhi programs now 10 years. I’ve been doing transcendental meditation for 25 years. It a definite contribution to a happy life, inner contentment, love in heart. Yes I get frustrated, annoyed, sad but it does not last and living life for what is relative is priceless ❤🙏🏼

Great explanation. I learnt in the early 1970's and still use it today although not all the time. It pulls me out when things get out of control. Probably the best value for stress ever developed.
