Gave us the internet... No, not really. The first working prototype of "the internet" was made by the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA). This US military agency was the first to make what was previously a theory into a reality by creating a computer network (ARPANET).

A while later, Tim Berners-Lee (an Englishman) made his contribution of the World Wide Web, HyperText Markup Language, and Uniform Resource Identifier (WWW, HTML, and URI) which allowed a layperson to browse the internet. Rather than the inventor or creator, I'd call him a contributor to the end product of the internet.
