Roland MC-808 ..... TR-REC mode
"This method lets you use the MC-808's keyboard pads to enter notes in a way similar to programming a rhythm machine."
NOTE - This method cannot record data other than note messages. (page 67 in the Manual)

So, this video shows my quick explore of the basics of TR-REC mode...

00:00 Introduction
00:30 choosing TR-REC mode and settings
00:55 press shift button in TR-REC *record* mode to choose note/sound to use
02:10 RHYTHM kit choice
02:35 choose the sound
03:00 after selecting a 'step' to play
03:30 entering more notes / changing the note
04:25 changing the sound or key played - select the sound to remove and de-select the pads
05:20 Timing scale - page 68 in the manual - alters note values and view
06:20 show the timing scale changing
07:35 deleting the pattern
08:00 alternative way in TR-REC *record* mode to choose note/sound to use - use the dial
09:40 change the patch / sample, but use the same pattern
10:15 delete the pattern
11:00 new patch, new pattern
11:30 By holding down [SHIFT] and pressing [TOP] [BWD] or [FWD], you can move the
playback location within the pattern in the same way as during playback.
The 16 pads show the steps in one bar, so to see all the notes in each bar,
you have to use the [SHIFT] and [BWD] or [FWD] to show each bar.
14:40 altering note lengths - replace a shorter note with a longer note
15:40 alter the Gate setting from 60% to 100% to lengthen the note
16:10 alternative way to do this - to get a note to continue to play for the whole bar
17:30 now to explore a bit .... and play some noise .... and alter filters etc
19:00 edit the messy noise
