Thanks Darlene - great video - I was not able to find the portrait background removal tool after updating and was wondering what the update is all about. Just waited for a video from you and yes, found it now!! Other brilliant stuff you explained is on how to use the refining brush -just looking at the way the layout was presented, I would have got confused and leave not trying any refinement. That's a great value addition from you in learning it yourself with Luminar folks and passing the knowledge. Great effort and thanks again.
To answer your question, really not kind of waiting for this feature to appear, as even without this, NEO was already complete for me and screaming loud and clear that it is the 'ONE' that we need. I left Lightroom 4 years back, once they got greedy with subscription model - since then, tried Luminar for 3 years and ON1 for 1 year in 2020. I am very happy with what Neo offers and even more relieved and glad that I do not have to get back to Lightroom - ever !!!

I've been waiting to USE Neo until it was feature-complete but am thankful you gave us an early bird discount. Did you notice the Object button is orange and the Background button is blue when you hover over them, and Transition is clear so that will also be a clue as to which button you are selecting! I look forward to giving this tool a try soon! Thanks for the video.

Great video and yea even though I’m a adobe fan since forever and i still don’t see myself coming out of the subscription of adobe I just like all their products but since skylum showed up on the scene I’ve got all their softwares and NEO it’s my favorite thing since I’m not great at all with photoshop lol NEO brings or should i say open the door for people that don’t want to have to deal with that tons of tools that photoshop have to offer when you can basically cut your time in less than half, I see NEO been used more for photographers that already have experience and just want to do some real quick editing, improve colors correction etc where photoshop is always going to dominate when it comes to photo manipulation NEO it’s great but not on the same level of photoshop when it comes to photo manipulation yet but i do believe that they are working towards that and also a great competition for topaz softwares from the surveys we been getting they are asking a lot of questions about a better Denoise AI, sharpen AI and a function that basically it’s described topaz gigapixel AI if they add those things to NEO then I’ll be very happy because it’s 3 companies that i need on my workflow, adobe, skylum and topaz, I like shooting on very high ISO’s and fixing with Denoise AI but at least I know my pictures will look good in case of hand held and a bit blurry then nothing that sharpen can’t fix and gigapixel AI is essential

Very good lesson on background removal best on YouTube.
Neo still not complete as awaiting Cut & Paste, Dodge & Burn and Redo.
Also layer masking does not allow copy and paste.
However a really good update and Neo is developing to be a capable program.
Thank you 😊

Been a Luminar user for years now. NEO is finally coming into its own as a very useful product. The background removal will be a big help for those times where you couldn’t or didn’t light the background well. I think that we are going to find this version very useful for portraits and events.

The pre-release marketing materials suggested that when you change the background it would automatically relight your image based on the lighting of the background (just like sky replacement does). That does not seem to be the case.

If I recall correctly I have viewed a tutorial that has mentioned that Click>Shift>Click has been implemented in this update but the lack of undo when working to refined the selection will be a major PITA particularly if the error is made late in the "fixing" process.
