Why I Started Playing YUGIOH ... Again

I quit playing YUGIOH before because of many issues I had with the game, but those issues were solved when I discovered retro formats, but more specifically: EDISON FORMAT

Edison channels I mentioned/used footage from:
@E3YuGiOh
@Zuczid
@Karpath_
@imnerdpodcast
@swiftdee3919
@asianwithcards
@FeelGoodGaming1
@playtestirl9448

The Outro song is "Bone Theme" by Michael Wyckoff

If you play Edison, or other retro formats, what’s your favorite deck to use?

This really shows that YuGiOh need more officially supported formats. MTG does this so well I hope Konami does something like it sooner than later.

Hey Macro! Thanks for the Shout-out! I didn't even realize how much content was used here from my channel and I'm glad to see more interest in Edison Format since my return back in Sept 2022.

I used to play in this era heavily and a majority of the meta cards I see in that timeframe are still muscle memory. Practically nothing surprised me back then and I'm in love with the fact that I seldomly have to read cards or change my mindset in how classic Yu-Gi-Oh ran.

Anyhow, thanks for the video and welcome to Edison Format!

I’m a huge fan of Yugioh, but unlike most of the audience I’m on the younger side. You don’t usually get younger people or newer people into the game so seeing you get back into the game especially through something like Edison is really cool!

This makes me wish masterduel would add format specific queues or events. Id love to play oldschool formats on it 😭

I used to be a competitive Yu-Gi-Oh! player that dropped off shortly after link monsters were introduced. My reason for leaving were the same as yours, whilst my love for the game hasn’t rekindled, I’m glad that yours have and found it interesting you also played. On the other hand, not too long ago I got into the commander format in Magic the Gathering, it’s so fun and casual. As a Yu-Gi-Oh! Player back then I saw Magic as an older guys game but now I wish I had played it sooner.

One of the best videos on Edison Format I have ever seen!! I cannot express how large the smile on my face was the entire time I watched this video😄😄😄

I love the passion you clearly have for the game, and your clear desire to emphasize its most fun aspects! Your zombie plant list is truly legendary at this point and I cannot wait to see what you cook up next.

An absolute legend and I hope so many people find out about edison format because of this! Thank you for making this video. 2024 is going to be an INCREDIBLE year for Macro and an INCREDIBLE year for yugioh 🔥🔥🔥

Honestly the retro formats is the best way to get people into the game in a more simple way than modern format. I do like the current format but... I can't deny how much fun the older ones are when I get burnt out on the modern format

modern is basically a fighting game where both players don't know what moves the other person has it is stupidly exhausting to play and very hard especially for newer players but it feels hella rewarding if you master it personally for me when my friend introduced me to this game

Master Duel not having retro formats kills it. It is way more friendlier to explore old formats first and then try new ones with time rather than being plunged right into a modern and competitive ladder.

Fellow Edison format player. Macro actually attends our locals and I can attest to the fun we have playing this retro version of the game. Definitely check it out if youve played yugioh before or ever wanted to play.

ive been looking at edison for a while now, and our locals have been hosting tournys for it once a month. ive already been a big fan of your channel and after seeing this when you first dropped it, it gave me the motivation to really get into edison. i now have 5 decks soon to be more, with Zombie Diva Hero being my favorite.
one of my favorite things right now is randomly seeing you on a yugioh profile without even looking

I am the zombie plant guy my friend and I took inspiration from the twilight rose deck and that's what we came up with! So thank you!

yo know why i love edison too ? because old DS gamea are basically just edison, right before or right after, meaning that you can totally play through the story of 5ds using edison cards and familiarize yourself with that and rulings there. been playing the wc 2009 and 2010 games recently, lots of fun

Personally i like modern more, just because i started playing when the albaz structure deck came out and if you have a friend you could also pivot to just playing constructed, which gives off the pacing of older formats while also having stronger cards or at least functioning archetype decks seen in newer decks

The reason why I don’t really play old formats is because the Red-Eyes support that could actually do anything was released during the pendulum era. Same for the Dragon Lords (an interesting deck that uses Paladin/Guardian of Felgrand and Ruins of the Divine Dragon Lords to summon level 7 and 8 dragons, especially Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand and Arkbrave Dragon, to banish your opponent’s cards and turn these dragons into beat sticks).
