The Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BOSEM) is gearing up to conduct the Class 10 board examinations, scheduled to begin from March 15.

A total of 37,715 students, including 19,087 male and 18,628 female candidates, will be appearing for the exams, which will continue till April 8.

Chairman of BOSEM, Akham Joykumar Singh, revealed that this year's Class 10 board exams will be held across 154 centers, with 91 in the valley and 63 in the hills.

Out of the total candidates, 9,119 are from government schools, 1,315 from aided schools, and the remaining 27,281 students are from private schools across the state.

Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place, with CrPC Section 144 imposed in and around the close perimeter of each exam center to facilitate smooth conduct of the exams.

In a significant development, exam materials and confidential documents will be dispatched to centers in the hills districts with the assistance of nodal officers appointed by the Manipur government, along with security escorts, marking a first for the state.

Additionally, BOSEM has appointed 25 inspection teams comprising government officials and representatives from private institutions to oversee the examination process in the valley.

In the hill areas, three to four inspection teams comprising officials from the District Commissioner/Additional District Commissioner (DC/ADC) offices, Zonal Education Office (ZEO) staff, and teachers will conduct inspections.

To ensure transparency and accountability, timestamp camera apps will be utilized to record all confidential-related events with precise GPS and time.
