“what the hell happened last night?” you mumble sitting up in bed. you look around and realize your sitting in h/n’s bed. but h/n’s not here. as your looking around you see your wearing a long sleeve with hl/n (h/n last name) and the number 12. his football number. you collapse back onto the bed and pull the covers over your head in attempt to block out all light. a few minutes later h/n quietly strolls in. you roll over and see him at the end of your bed with a glass of water and some painkillers to deal with your headache. “morning, i brought you some pills and water for your hangover.” he says softly setting the items down on the sidetable. “oh and don’t worry i slept on the couch, i didn’t think you were comfortable with me sleeping in the same bed.” he adds. you groan and he laughs. “thank you tho i know i don’t seem grateful right now because my head is pounding but i am truly, thank you.” you rant. “y/n, i would do this for you anytime, your my best friend.” he says looking into your eyes. oh yeah “best friends”. your smile drops a little at “best friends” but you quickly put a fake one on and go use the bathroom. “i made breakfast come down when ur ready!” he yells as he softly closes the door. -your mind- why is he being so sweet i absolutely can’t even right now. and why is the tug in my stomach back ughh. i know he would never like me back tho. i just gotta shove whatever feelings i have about him romantically to the back of my head. (ok now we are out of her head.) you freshen up a little bit. wash your face, do some skincare, and brush your hair. (btw you have sleepovers at h/n’s a lot so some of your stuff is at his house) you turn off the lights and make you way downstairs.

As you stood there, feeling a mix of annoyance and familiarity with H/N's protective nature, you took a deep breath before responding. You tried to explain, "H/N, I appreciate your concern, but this is just a dress. I'm not trying to impress anyone in particular; I just want to feel confident tonight."

H/N's grip on your wrist loosened slightly as he sighed, his brows furrowing in worry. "I get it, y/n. But you deserve to be respected for who you are, not just how you look. You're so much more than that, and I hate seeing you compromise yourself for attention."

You looked down, realizing that he was right. While you didn't necessarily agree that your outfit defined your worth, you understood that you shouldn't put yourself in situations where you might attract unwanted attention or disrespect.

After a moment of contemplation, you softened your tone, "Okay, I'll consider changing into something else, but can you promise me something in return?"

H/N looked puzzled but nodded, "What is it?"

You looked directly into his eyes and said, "Promise me that you won't try to control my choices, H/N. I value your concern, but I need you to trust that I can take care of myself."

He seemed taken aback by your words, realizing that he might have been overstepping his bounds. "You're right. I'm sorry for being overprotective, y/n. It's just hard to see you in situations where you might get hurt."

You smiled, appreciating his honesty and vulnerability. "I know you care, and I value our friendship more than anything. So, can you help me pick something else to wear? Your fashion sense has always been better than mine."

H/N chuckled, relieved that you understood his intentions and willing to compromise. Together, you went through your wardrobe, selecting an outfit that still made you feel good about yourself but was more in line with both of your comfort levels.

As you got ready, you chatted about old memories, laughter easing the earlier tension. H/N couldn't help but comment, "Remember the time we got lost in the woods when we were ten? You were so brave."

You giggled, "And you were the one who got us out of there, as always. I'd be lost without you, H/N."

He smiled warmly, "And I'd be lost without you, too, y/n."

With your outfit change, you felt confident and ready to enjoy the evening, knowing that you had a friend who genuinely cared about your well-being.
