How to study Geography for UPSC: Resources, books, PYQs, High Scoring subject in prelims and mains

Geography is one subject from which every year 5-8 questions come in the UPSC prelims and at least 3-5 questions in Mains exam. It is an interdisciplinary subject with direct references to economics, environment and IR. In fact, studying it well will certainly help you with IR as well as Environment as well. Mapping is a key aspect as well, we will discuss as well.

1. NCERT books for geography: Physical Geography, India Physical Geography, Human Geography,
2. Goh Cheng Leong Book
3. Vision IAS PT 365 and IR 365 will be helpful
4. PMFIAS notes for revision ONLY
5. Mrunal and Solanki ma'am Videos on youtube. Use YT extensively.
6. Print out maps and get Oxford Atlas for practice. Divide world maps into small regional segments, such as the Mediterranean region, and master each region separately. Becomes easier to read and study that way.

WHEN:
Study Geography as one of the first 4 subjects in your UPSC prep (after environment, economics and polity) . You can spend up to 1-1/5 months mastering it. If you read 20-25 pages per day, you can definitely complete within 1.5 months, however, lot of revisions will be needed

In my personal opinion, Harshit Dwivedi's videos are way better than Amit Sengupta. Amit is good for revision but in order to understand concepts and to have basic understanding, HD's videos are more helpful.
