🍌 What is Geography? Crash Course Geography #1

So, what is geography? In our first episode of Crash Course Geography, we will endeavor to answer this seemingly simple question with the help of a similarly simple factoid: that the US imports more than 3 billion pounds of bananas from Guatemala each year. But as it turns out, beneath the kinds of factoids we usually associate with Geography are much grander stories that really are Geography. So let's go a little bananas as we explore the sordid history of the Chiquita banana.

I'm glad this one is back, and this first video was great.

My favourite crash courses end up being the ones on subjects in school that I hated learning like history. Looks like geography is going to be a new favourite as it's focused less on "knowing" facts and more on understanding why the facts came to be.

As someone who grew up in the US, but is originally from Guatemala I thoroughly appreciated this video. I can't wait to continue to watch this series.

So here for this series! The world needs this right now, the more we know about other places and people the less divided we all are

I just have to say that John and Co have really upheld their promise of rigor and balance. As someone who saw the first attempt at CC Human Geography and how divisive it was, this is a brilliant new approach. Well worth the 4 year wait.

I rarely get to hear about Bangladesh in western textbooks. When I do, it's always in Geography class.
