From an overall legacy and career perspective, Kylian Mbappe’s move to Real Madrid is the best move for him in order to achieve the things that’s missing in his legacy. I know some of you think that it’s a weak move for him since in basketball terms him going to a team that just won what he’s yet to win is basically like what Kevin Durant did when he joined the Golden State Warriors in 2016. He’s one of if not the best player in the world and has been for a long time, at the age of 18 he won the World Cup while scoring in the final, he had the most goals out of any player in PSG’s history and overall he is a world class player, but the main reason why he hasn’t won the Ballon Dor is because he’s never won the champions league and he’s 25 years old. The reality is that for his career, winning 7 Ligue 1 titles isn’t a significant achievement because PSG have been dominating the league for years and now that he’s left they’ll continue winning Ligue 1. No matter how many goals and assists he has, people weren’t going to take Mbappe seriously if he was still playing in the French League. It would’ve been great if he had a champions league title to his name at PSG, it just didn’t happen for him there and while I won’t put the blame on him, even with Messi and Neymar, they still didn’t win the UCL and that’s the sad reality about his time at PSG.

Despite playing alongside Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham, Mbappe is the one who’ll be scoring 45-50+ goals at Real Madrid and when they win trophies no matter how well his teammates play, he’ll get all the credit for that and he’s now on a champions league winning team who has won the UCL 15 times and have won it more times out of any team since the 2013-14 season not to mention that he plays on a strong national team as in every major tournament, France are seen as team who’s a frontrunner to win or at least get to the final. We have to acknowledge how star studded this team is and they have players who get a lot of PR too and he should win 3-4 Ballon Dors there. Him producing this sort of output at Real Madrid is the same thing with what he’s been doing at PSG for 5-6 years, the difference is that at Madrid there’s more people watching him which is why he’ll get far more appreciation and this move is good for his image and PR. I’m not saying he’ll surpass Messi and Ronaldo, but at Real Madrid, Mbappe has the supporting cast around him to achieve a lot of success both at club and international level.
