I genuinely miss the era where the same game was very different depending on the platform. It’s not necessarily a ‘better or worse’ situation either, sometimes they’re both great but very different.

1. Mega Drive version has story cutscenes and dialog. The Super Famicom version throws you into the action.
2. Also judging the options screen. The Mega Drive version seems to give you 7 lives compared to 5 in the Super Famicom version.
3. The Mega Driver version also moves faster.
4. Also the Super Famicom version seems to lock you in a screen while Mega Driver version you can move back and forth. Noticeable when you did your special jump kick attack.
5. The elevator and the fights on the semi truck trailers are missing from the Super Famicom version.
6. The Panda bear riding the train has no audible tell when arriving on the Mega Drive version.
This video is long so there is probably a lot more Gameplay elements to compare.

Oh man. I play this in the arcade still. There's a huge one near my home.

I like md colors better, and the additional screens, but the lack of 2 player mode is unexplainable

I loved the Genesis ver BGM and the original command moves. The stages added to the Genesis version were also good. Also in the Genesis version, you can see a hidden final boss in hard mode.

A la version de sega solo le falto ser de 2 players, en lo demas en ataques, movimientos y velocidad la de sega es mucho mejor

What I like the most about this game is that BGM near the end where it starts off in a wintery, peaceful kind of way then abruptly goes chaotic then loops back to peaceful.

This channel is fantastic. I hope there are more comparisons of anime games like this!

Both good games but not sure what made the Super Famicom team decide on that blue veil over the colours. Normally the SF is better than the MD for colouring so it's an odd one at around on this occasion. Both games play really well though. I certainly enjoyed both.

I remember playing the SNES one on an emulator when I was younger alongside other old Sailor Moon games.

As much as I love the genesis, multiplayer will always be better than single player

I used to play the SNES version a lot back in the 1990's, never knew there was a Mega Drive version. Surprised to see it look and sound so much better - equally surprised and disappointed at the lack of 2 player mode.

Snes have 2 players, but Mega have a better controls and combo system, anyway both games are bad, but the MD have a amazing music.
Extra fact, the MD version was made by Arc System Works.

I think there was a arcade version too of this game. I have both versions of the Magadrive and Super famicom. There both good games with pros and cons. Love them both. ❤🙂

Curious with the 1p character choice. Did some research based on the color quite the experience. Sailor Mercury. Has apparently a 300 IQ and the power over forms of water. Also a computer whiz that uses a micro super computer and scan enemies using "Mercury Visor". Also to be honest the 2 player mode on the Super Famicom version seems dull and less difficult. Also considering that there were better beat'em ups on the console at the time.

I've played BOTH versions recently, and I honestly think they are pretty close; but the Genesis still has its advantages tho...

Although it sucks that it has no two player mode, the Genesis version is better in terms of control and audio clarity (although both have great music), and the tonality is closer to the original anime, even though the story of it, whilst possibly fitting between episodes 48 -50. The SNES version is decent and looks better graphically but feels somewhat clunkier; an example of how better graphics doesn't mean a better game. I also never got why at 46:28 it shows Ami (and the other four) in her school uniform there.

Nice choice of characters; too Mercury and Venus were my favorites of the Inner Sailors.

A lack of 2 player mode on the MD version is inexcusable.
