Krylon vs Rustoleum Mirror Spray Paint Comparison Follow-Up

A viewer suggested I try the experiment again using rubbing alcohol instead of glasses cleaner, explaining that the glasses cleaner was likely leaving a protective coating on the glass. For good measure, I also decided to use a heat gun to evaporate any remaining bits of moisture from the surface that might have interfered with the paint in the first video.

I was not paid by either Krylon or Rustoleum to make these videos. This is an experiment I decided to do for myself and film for the benefit of others.

If you are interested in purchasing either type of paint, please consider using the links below. They are affiliate links. It won't cost you anything extra, but if you decide to click and buy something, you help me make a tiny bit of money from Amazon.

It's also possible to find these paints at your local craft store.

Thanks for following up on this. I was really curious as to how it could do with a GOOD cleaning. Really made an impact on me possibly purchasing this.

I guess it is the glass. Looks like you have used cheap thin glas from some photoframe? Mirrorglas is of higher quality and polished to be absolute flat. So you will have to buy higher quality polished glas to have a clearer mirror effect.

So..the ideal usage would be for antique mirror effect, and faux mercury ornaments possibly to make ones own candy colored ornaments circa 50s?? I was really finally hoping they came up with something to make metal look chrome with a spraycan😂😎❗. Thanks for the vids!

For anyone wondering, I tried to apply the Rustoleum one on a transparent plastic bin following the instructions and didn't get good results. I couldn't find an alternative for plastic or any comment by anyone who tried it before.

I know this is an older video but the rustoleum one specifies acrylic as well as glass. Have you/are you planning on trying these two out on acrylic (say 3mm -1/8") thick? That would be interesting to see. :)

Hey, your first coat was not uniform, it looks too weak. The problem is probably the first and second coat overlapping.

I know I'm kinda late to the party, but it is possible to make a two way mirror by using less coats?

I want to add a mirror effect on a visor for a cosplay, and for maximum effect that would have to be on the inside, and due to the geometry I just can't get those two way mirror foils to stick...

If you’re looking for a flawless look don’t paint like that. After your first video I figured you would have learned something. It’s not the paint that’s the problem
