Otho was an anomaly: being bold and cowardly at the same time, as if juggling in between inside his mind.

Too scared to protect his own wife from his buddy Nero but bold enough to pursuit a revolt, which had succeed only due to Praetorian Guard and not the army of Galba's allies.

Bold enough to overthrow Galba with an hastily made up on the spot assassination, too scared to stop the ruinous plan of Nero's Golden Palace, in his pursuit of copying Nero (and be better than him, since he actually knew how to govern).

Bold enough to face the revolting Vitellius with far lesser troops, even winning some battles. Yet losing hope just because his 10000% loyal Praetorian Guard (holy SHIT) soldier killed himself in front of him to prove that each and every soldier present is ready to do the same for him. That did the opposite effect and Otho, instead of waiting for a gigantic reinforcement from Danube Legions, which would assure his victory, decided to kill himself instead to prevent a blood spilling. Suicide isn't a solution, Otho (and that particular Praetorian), you could've go far...
