Jimmy Kimmel couldn't even comprehend the significance of what Jaime said about what happened during the lashing scene. There was no spiritual, emotional or empathy response from him. Unfortunately, his (Kimmel) "funny" reaction is why many people were against this fictional and sometimes comedic account of slavery. I would venture to say if a film was a cartoon-ish portrayal of the Holocaust, and a scene in which a Jewish person was about to be tortured, would he have made a joke? No he would have not, because there's a sense of respect for their history and those lines would never be crossed. Black Americans have allowed others to mock our history.
