In this in-depth tutorial, I will guide you through the technique of effectively flighting your wedges for optimal control and distance. We'll examine the mechanics that the pros use to lower launch angles, maximize compression, and enhance control. From understanding face-to-path relationships to controlling your ground and ascent angles, this video is designed to offer you a comprehensive strategy. You'll learn a unique grip adjustment specific to wedges, how to effectively use your arm speed and not your hand speed, and the importance of a stable base. Additionally, we'll discuss the critical roles of your knees and pelvis in shaping the perfect wedge shot. This video is a deep dive into advanced wedge play techniques, ensuring you get that golf ball to launch lower and penetrate more, just like the pros do.

THANK YOU Trevor. I've sucked at this shot my whole life. I've done my head in & I have HONESTLY spent hundreds of hours on trying to flight my wedges lower. After watching your video I went to the range & I did everything you said & it worked immediately. I flighted my wedges beautifully the entire session. I almost started crying because of all the pain and effort I went through trying to hit this shot & it never eventuated. Thank you once again.

You are very quickly becoming my go to instructor

Incredible! I was just working on this at the range last night. I have a tendency to get my launch angle too high. I understand the concept of placing the hands forward at address to help compress, but appreciate the emphasis on closing the face a bit so as to not swing open. Anxious to try this tonight!

Thanks Trevor, I finally found a channel where the instructor cares about explaining the what, how, and why. Will the ball spin/bite or role out when it hits the green? Can you do a lesson on releasing the club for a standard golf swing? I'd like to know how to release naturally...I mess up being efficient by either flipping, rolling or throwing. Thx man🤛

I appreciate this drill so much! I had been struggling with my wedges and this was exactly what needed. I worked 2 hrs on the range and played the following weekend. I had a birdie a d chip in eagle and shot a 78. Keep the videos coming. I'm subscribed!
Would love to also see a video on teeing the driver higher.ive been hitting bombs doing that but I need to refine my technique.

I’m mad that I’ve never thought about pre closing the face of the club prior to setup. I always just tried to hold off or cover the ball even more. Can’t wait to try this out!

If I ever make it to that area of FL I am going to see this guy.

This is great. On occasion when you want more height on a wedge what does the release look like.

Came back to this video to refresh myself after our lesson from a few months ago - this is absolute $$$!

You slightly touched on this in the video but would you hit full PW shots like this? or basically use this kind of shot for 3/4, 1/2, and down shots only (for all wedge types)?

super awesome tutorial.. covering pretty much all my concerns re wedges.. I'm totally into Trevor's swing style and teaching method.. so concise and easy to comprehend. Just a quick question if you want to volume down the wedge swing for chipping, would I narrow down stance with chipping around the green, say >50 yards? Many thanks.

Tremendous lesson Trevor. Really been working on feeling those feet pressures. So even though this is a lower ball flight with a sand wedge it is going to have increased range but more stopping power due to the ball sticking to the middle of the face? With my lofted wedges the ball goes a million miles in the air on a full swing and very short

Great explanation and demo. Question. This seems like it requires a reasonable lie with turf under the ball. You don’t talk about the bounce so I assume you’ve used so much shaft lean that the bounce is a non factor? Off a bare lie or soft lie is there a danger of the leading edge digging in?

Thanks Trevor. How lie dependent is this technique?

Thank you - great in depth pointers! how do I think about dialing in distance? if I accelerate around club parallel and feel the club dropping prior to that then it doesn't seem possible to use the clock system.. so is it just feel, or is there anything else to guide?

Been looking for this kind of instruction! Thank you. I see all the audio comments, I am an audio engineer and film maker and you had some kind of intermittant connection issue. You could actually fix this video, it will take some time, but you could simply over-dub all your vocals; i.e., watch the video and re-record everything you said and thus create a new audio track. You won't need super precision to lip synch, the content is what is important, not the visual. You would be surprised at how many voice over-dubs are done in film vs the live take. If I lived near you, I would give you free studio time and help as a thank you for all your great content. On second thought, record a voice over-dub track while simply watching the video, as best you can, send me the audio and video, and I can edit as needed and remake it for you. It is a shame for people to focus on the audio issues vs the outstanding instruction. Just a thought, cheers!

Is this shot only good for perfect tight lies in the fairway?

4:15 hello sir, I like the idea of closing it down for wedges. My question to you is this all of my irons I feel do not penetrate to the Target. I was curious if you could do a video from pitching wedge to let’s say six irons with the same concept, I have no trouble hitting the ball very hard at a pretty good distance. I do not believe it is maximize because of how hard I hit the ball I’d be interested to see the relationship of the close faced for the mid irons. Thank you.
