Rose Garden Tour late September | David Austin Roses | Kordes Roses | Rose Suckers

I just got back from holiday and here we have a wander around the garden in late September.
I don’t usually get rose suckers, in fact I don’t think I’ve had any!
But here I have one coming up and one of the few things I remember my dad teaching me is to try and pull them out cleanly from the socket at which it’s attached to the root.
Would probably help by carefully loosening the soil a little around the sucker to assist it pop out.

Really like your motor home 👍🏻 Lions rose looks fantastic! Queen Bee 👍🏻 🌹❤️ one of the best for health I think. Goes wider than taller. I am so sure she will look wonderful in your garden. Thank you for sharing about suckers. Always something to learn. Thank you 🌹❤️

Hello Jay Jay! Cool to see your motor home, it looks cozy inside. That would be an adventure to visit south of France, Meilland would be a dream place to see, I watched their channel, they are actively breeding roses which can grow in this climate change condition. Your Rose Elizabeth looks fantastic, I heard a lot of good opinions on this rose.🌹

Oh...I have been tracing any suckers in pots completely back to their emergence from the root, and then pulling them off.
As ever Lovely Videographer.... great to see your roses.
Glad to hear of your travels in the motorhome, both completed and also those planned for the future.
♥️♥️♥️🌹🌹🌹♥️♥️♥️

Curse the suckers!! That's why I prefer own root---no suckers! Grrrr! My suckers usually come from under the graft right next to it so you can't tell which is sucker & which is good; my experience is that once suckers start, that vigorous rootstock just keeps sending them up & starving the real rose. But if grafted is the only way to get the rose you want..
Your garden looks quite nice for how late it is in the season---your Cadfael is stellar., Rose Elizabeth too, & of course the Lady of Shalot. For any of your fans in the U.S., David Austin has a LOT of roses restocked that haven't been around for a while, including Brother Cadfael, and others. I want to thank you for showing how fabulous your Olivia Rose was doing in your last few videos---I'd taken your advice this summer & got me one & she is a champion bloomer! I can't believe summer is over and there won't be many more flowers---where did the time go? Your van looks lovely & comfy, just right for a trip to France!

Brother Cadfael does have a gorgeous scent Jay Jay. Linda was saying that Elizabeth has been performing well for her too. I think I'll have to get it even though I keep saying that there's no more room in my garden! Hope you had a great break in your motorhome. It's better than my house!

Lovely video mate. Brother cadfael and Lady of Shalott performing well. I remember your old video of growing rose from cutting and that is great way to avoid suckers. I have rooted Jasmina, florentina, Munstead wood and Amadeus from cutting/pegging. Growth of own root Lady of Shalott is phenomenal.

Champagne Moment is a lovely rose. Suckers are a real pain in the neck. I always prune my floribundas in the Spring but as my roses are in a windy place, I may need to cut them back by a third before the Winter. Thank you for the great video Jay Jay 🌹

Strange year for our Brother Cadfael, Jay. Mine must be 7 years old now and always been around 3-4ft max. This year 7ft tall and flowered prolifically.

I saw in your David Austin Tour that you wanted Carolyn Knight but it wasn’t available at the time… but it’s available for bare root preorder now!

Enjoyed the walk around Jay Jay. Pleased to hear you had a nice time in Wales. Is the 20 m.p.h. max. still in opperation? I can't remember. Still got a few roses to look at; same here. Have you asked their permission to buzz off to the South of France next year. Cheers! P.

Jay Jay I love your garden and your motor home. I have a question what is the name of the yellow flowering plant nearby the motor home? Thanks in advance.

With regard your trip to France there is a book you can buy in France which will give you all the aires de camping car and most were free. Water and toilet emptying. It’s called Aire de Service Camping Car. Although it is in French it’s quite easy to follow. We used to stay for a month at a time for a few euros. They probably charge now. Most we paid was 5 euros a night. You won’t want to visit any other country. Superb! As the French say.

Sunshine Jay Jay? Want to swap locations? Grey drizzle over here in the west, with worse to come. As I mentioned in a reply to a comment my oldest and tallest Ancient Mariner does seem to produce two main flushes with little in between, but the others below the decking flower fairly constantly, and the one on my front garden has not produced anything much since its first flush months ago - so my experience is very mixed. Lady of Shalott is a wonderful flower factory, isn't it? I wouldn't mind more of those in my garden, but my Elizabeth (which I loved last year) has not flowered that well this year - it's weird how one person's best performer is another's so-so rose, but then I suppose my varied experience with my AMs shows that one of your best roses can also be one of your worst. I had a look at Queen Bee online - it looks like a lovely rose, but I am going to have to have a serious think about my planting for next year. Your phone camera seems to be working a lot better this time, nice sharp images.
