"We must be careful not to say things publicly, as if they were fact, when we DO. NOT. KNOW."

As a new solo gamer, I think the term "gateway game" depends on whether or not a person has played a lot of video games, whether RPGs(everything you see in dungeon crawlers are going to be familiar), strategy games where you build buildings that improve your civilization and armies, etc. For learning euros, the familiarity with "systems", "leveling up" or "crafting" is still relevant. Even if things are new, its fun to learn. Learning things like VPs, worker placement, set collection, are new, but very fun concepts to learn.

I love how Tom takes so many questions or comments that are clearly meant as jokes as serious.

Tom, can I ask what are you talking about at 24:00 to 25:18? Is that games related? Is it religion related? Physics? I am curious.

The stream room should have a large mural of a stream on the background wall.

The best budget game bags are Cajon Drum bags. You can get a decent one for under $12 and quite nice ones for under $40

Mr Vasel, I would like to tenuously suggest Hostage Negotiator as a game about pursuing peace.... but good luck achieving it! ;-)

bottom line the admins for the Boardgame Group on fb need to get better at banning the trolls. they seem very hesitant to do so, and some of the threads that have started recently are f'ing ridiculous and disruptive. maybe there's a troll-the-internet board game being played somewhere =/

I don't think the overall IP is the holdup with Queen's Gambit. Hasbro had a perfect opportunity to reprint it when they made Star Wars Risk and there's a reason they chose not to... no one (save for a cult following of people that played and are aware of the original game) wants a game based on one of the most reviled movies in the entire Star Wars canon. When Queen's Gambit debuted, Avalon Hill was banking on people having Star Wars fever and loving Episode 1... and then it came out and people hated it. And though the game was great, it quickly fell into obscurity. Enjoy Star Wars Risk as the Queen's Gambit redux. Episode One will never get a stand-alone game again. Best you can hope for is content from it appearing in larger Star Wars games (Rebellion, Imperial Assault, Destiny).
