Need a little help with your song writing? The Digitech Trio might be just the thing for you. I bought a used Digitech Trio Plus on @ and the more I use it the more I realize how great this is to help songwriters create songs with different beats, different flavors then I would normally write. Not to mention the great tool this is for practice.

Thank you for making this video. This video gave the information that was needing 1 minute into your video. Thanks to your video I will be purchasing this pedal. Please keep making these videos.

Deb your videos are great. I’m a big fan of the TrioPlus. It’s just too easy to overwrite your work or get tangled up live. Your vids have inspired me to purchase a Tascam 8 track to do some recording, backing tracks and such. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I just picked one of these up. I haven't had much time to play with it yet but it seems to have a lot of potential to be a great practice and songwriting tool. I was able to get a basic 12 bar going without any difficulty but I think I'm going to need to dig deep into the manual to get the most out of it.

I'd be quite interested to see how to combine the Boss VE-8 with the Trio Plus as a songwriting duo.

Hey!
I've seriously been considering the Trio or Trio + for my workflow. I am not entirely convinced however.
To put this into perspective, I am a 1 piece speed/thrash/punk metal band, and I usually play each of the instruments, and end up recording them separately onto a multitracker.
This sort of workflow is extremely tiring, as I have to come up with both guitar, bass and drum parts as well as write lyrics and do vocals, and also record, mix and master. I've struggled to find a band due to my none existent social skills and my equally eclectic music tastes that alienate most people, but I really would like to play and jam with a band, and write songs in the "traditional" band way, because honestly this solo crap is tiring and draining - I spend a day making cool guitar parts for a song, record that, then have to write each and every other instrument part and record them one by one, which takes me ages and I am usually barely happy with the results.
I do wonder how much would I benefit from a pedal like this? I could just get a song down on tape, add vocals, then perhaps just learn the stuff the pedal plays in bass and drums and record them. I.g. It really would take out the whole phase of just me spending ages coming up with a song on guitar then trying to figure out how to add drums, bass and all the rest and spending ages fiddling around and coming up with parts, especially for drums, that is hard (not so much bass as I can just play a simpler part of what the guitars play).
The thing that's really pushing me away is that it is really expensive, especially the plus version (which I have no need for as I already own a looper) but annoyingly the basic version does not have a metal preset, and idk how fast it plays for "rock" as I have fast, punk/thrash style beats in mind, just can't seem to put them into the songs. Both versions I've seen go for stupid money, which honestly is making me hesitate as to whether this is actually worth something crazy like £300+ or whether I should just stick to my current pattern of sluggish recording and somehow push through and maybe, just maybe get one album recorded and released after stupid amounts of years, IF I am even happy with the results, which i pretty much never am (I've given up on finding a band, every time I meet people, they're either complete assholes and make me angry and stressed out, have shit music tastes or can't play crap, and annoyingly I've noticed that the people I get on with have awful music tastes and/or can't play instruments and the ones I don't get on with, actually listen to good music, and I struggle to get on with people as is, due to my poor self esteem and pent up hate/personal prejudices due to past experiences, and generally lack trust to give to people that aren't super close to me, especially with something as personal to me as my music). It's honestly bugging me as it seems like a cool "tool" but idk how actually useful it would be, especially when I only really need ot for the writing part as I would re record everything with real instruments for the record, as I want an authentic, oldschool, organic sound (hence why I no longer do programmed drums or virtual instruments), and not another repeat of "Upon A Bloodied Earth" as I never was personally happy with that EP, and the most telling part is that it barely gets any streams in Spotify.
So idk, I guess my question is, is the primary (not +) version a good songwriting tool for a metalhead/punk and is it actually worth it, if I already have drums and bass available, just no people to play them other than me?

I really like the tune! I hope you develop it! That would be a cool vid...after you're done writing the song, play it with your back up "band in a box"! Cheers!

Been using mine for live gigs for quite a while now. Pedal is a big plus so you don't have to touch the pedal. All cover toons also. Just need patients to get the bass to cooperate.

As you can store 12 songs per memory card and easily change the SD card for more songs I don’t see why you can’t just play the songs back from the Trio+. The song will save the sequence too, so with five sections and multiple sections using the sequence feature you should be able to do most song types from the unit itself. I do backup my SD cards so I can always get songs back it I lost the SD card. Not sure why you recommended recording the songs to an iPhone etc !

Enjoyed the video. I've had a Trio+ for a couple years, trying to move from Guitar based tracks to keyboards. Any tips on part recordings and song composition would be fantastic!

Hi
I think I've come to the same conclusion as far as using live is concerned.
I've had a Boss RC3 for a while and wondered if it makes sense to make backing tracks on the Trio+ and transfer them to the RC3 for live work.

Hello, with a trio plus, is it possible to record a loop with a certain sound (for example clean on the amplifier) and play lead on a different sound (crunch for exemple) When ido that, the looper is played in crunch sound and do not stay in clean sound. THank youfor answer.
